According to Ms. Phan Bach Van, Head of the Economic Department of Tran De commune, the commune currently has 7,282 households using clean water, accounting for approximately 49% of the total number of households in the area. Of these, the Can Tho City Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center provides water to 4,254 households, while other water supply units serve 3,028 households.
According to a review by the People's Committee of Tran De commune, there are still 288 households in 8 residential areas that do not have access to clean water. In Mo O hamlet, the water supply from the Mo O water station is insufficient, the water source is contaminated with alum, and some households report that although a pipeline runs through their area, water meters have not been installed. In Cho hamlet, there is still one pipeline of about 1,000m with 57 households that do not have access to clean water; some pipelines are not sufficient due to the small diameter of the pipes.
The shortage of clean water, weak water flow, or the lack of a water supply network in many areas of Tran De commune has persisted for many years. The City People's Committee has approved the planning, and relevant agencies have included water supply projects in the commune in the list of key investment projects. The Can Tho City Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center is also implementing solutions to increase the percentage of households using clean water in the 2026-2030 period.
According to the plan, after funding is allocated, the Can Tho City Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center will invest in large-scale surface water extraction projects, upgrade the transmission system, and expand the pipeline network. This investment will not only contribute to increasing water pressure and quality but also ensure a stable water supply for the people of Tran De commune and neighboring areas.
To expedite implementation, the People's Committee of Tran De commune proposed prioritizing investment in pipelines in areas currently lacking clean water. The local government committed to coordinating land clearance, organizing public meetings, and consulting with the community to ensure consensus during the project's implementation.
