In accordance with Plan No. 168/KH-SGD&ĐT dated September 6, 2022, of the Department of Education and Training on the plan for organizing the excellent student selection exams for the 2022-2023 school year; and Official Letter No. 29/SGD&ĐT-QLCL dated January 10, 2023, of the Department of Education and Training on preparing for the provincial-level excellent student selection exam for high schools in the 2022-2023 school year; Van Ban No. 1 High School has established a team of students to participate in the provincial-level excellent student selection exam for the 2022-2023 school year.
This school year, the entire school has 64 participating students, an increase of 4 students compared to the same period last year, participating in all 10 subjects. Specifically, Mathematics (2 students), Physics (6 students), Chemistry (4 students), Biology (7 students), English (8 students), Literature (8 students), History (7 students), Geography (6 students), Informatics (8 students), and Civic Education (8 students).
As a result, Van Ban No. 1 High School had 43 students winning awards, an increase of 10 awards compared to the same period last year. The percentage of students winning awards reached 67.2%. This is the first time the school has achieved such a record number of awards. These include 2 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 12 third prizes, and 17 consolation prizes. This is an encouraging result for the teachers and students of the school during the academic year celebrating the 50th anniversary of the school's founding (1972-2022).
Specifically, both first prizes were awarded in the Civic Education subject to the following students: Nguyen Truong Khanh Linh (11A1) and Duong Manh Tung (12A3).
The 12 second-place winners are: Nguyen Thuy Linh (11A1 - Physics), Tran Thanh Tam (11A1 - Chemistry), Dao Khanh Hue (11A1 - Biology), Dinh Nhat Minh (11A1 - Informatics), Le Thanh Huyen (12A1 - Literature), Hoang Hai Nam (12A2 - History), La Phuong Anh (12A2 - Civic Education), Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh (11A2 - Civic Education), Do Khanh Linh (11A2 - Civic Education), Nguyen Phuong Thao (11A2 - Civic Education), Nguyen Trong Hoa (11A1 - Civic Education), and Vu Thanh Lam (12A1 - English).
The 12 third-place winners are: Tran Tuan Anh (11A1 - Mathematics), Tran Thai Anh Minh (11A1 - Physics), Nguyen Phuong Thao (12A1 - Physics), Hoang Thu Hang (11A1 - Biology), Nguyen Manh Cuong (10A1 - Informatics), Anh Tran Hai Dang (11A1 - Informatics), Chu Thanh Vinh (11A1 - Informatics), Nguyen Lan Anh (12A1 - Literature), Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh (11A1 - Literature), Nguyen Thi Thao Nhi (11A2 - Literature), Chu Ngoc Anh (12A1 - Civic Education), and Le Phu Trong (11A1 - English).
The 17 consolation prizes were awarded to the following students: Mathematics: Nguyen Khanh Ly (11A1); Physics: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai (12A1), Le Bao Nhi (11A1); Chemistry: Pham Ha Huy (10A1), Pham Quang Tung (10A1); Biology: Nguyen Mai Anh (12A1), Doan Tung Duong (12A1), Nguyen Manh Duc (11A1), Hoang Thu Huong (11A1); Informatics: Pham Minh Quan (10A1), Do Ngoc Son (11A1); Literature: Luong Phuong Linh (11A1), Do Hoang Anh Thu (11A1), Nguyen Thi Thu Trang (12A1); History: Hoang Thi Thanh Tam (12A2); English: Nguyen Bao Khanh (11A1), La Ha Phuong (12A1).
The efforts and success of the students in the recent Provincial Excellent Student Selection Exam are the deepest expression of gratitude that teachers and parents have been hoping for.
To achieve these results, in addition to the outstanding efforts of the students, there was also the unwavering dedication and tireless effort of the teachers, working day and night without regard for holidays or weekends. Among them, Ms. Hoang Thi Hong Hanh, with her Civic Education team, won 8 out of 8 awards (2 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 1 third prize); Mr. Doan Duy An, with his Informatics team, won 6 out of 8 awards (1 second prize, 3 third prizes, and 1 honorable mention); Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, with her Physics team (together with Mr. La Ba Bien), won 5 out of 6 awards (1 second prize, 2 third prizes, and 2 honorable mentions); and Ms. Le Thi Thu, with her Biology team, won 6 out of 7 awards (1 second prize, 1 third prize, and 4 honorable mentions). Literature team: Ms. Bui Thu Thuy won 3 out of 4 prizes (1 second, 1 third, 1 consolation prize), Ms. Bui Thi Tuyet Nhung won 3 out of 3 prizes (2 third, 1 consolation prize), Ms. Nguyen Duy Na won 1 out of 1 prize (1 consolation prize); Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai with the English team (together with Ms. Nguyen Phuong Mai) won 4 out of 8 prizes (1 second, 1 third, 2 consolation prizes); Ms. Do Thi Hien with the Chemistry team won 3 out of 4 prizes (1 second, 2 consolation prizes); Ms. Dinh Phuong Thao with the Mathematics team won 2 out of 2 prizes (1 third, 1 consolation prize); Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen with the History team won 2 out of 5 prizes (1 second, 1 consolation prize).
Six classes had students who won awards: Class 12A1 (10 awards), Class 12A2 (3 awards), Class 12A3 (1 award), Class 11A1 (21 awards), Class 11A2 (4 awards), and Class 10A1 (4 awards). Notably, Class 11A1 had 28 students participating in the competition and won 21 awards, demonstrating the correct and effective approach of class grouping and teaching based on students' abilities. Another remarkable point is that 29 students from grades 10 and 11 won awards, accounting for 66% of the total awards. This shows that the strategy of investing in and nurturing gifted and talented students from grade 10 is entirely correct and can achieve high effectiveness.
A season of sweet fruits has arrived for the school. But it doesn't stop there; the teams of outstanding students from Van Ban No. 1 High School are continuing to select talented students for the next school year. The Civic Education team won 8 out of 8 prizes, including 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 1 third prize.
