Khoai Lang Thang visits the ancient village of Ouchi-juku, Fukushima, Japan, in February 2025. |
On the evening of February 1st, travel blogger Khoai Lang Thang posted a video summarizing his 2025 journey, documenting his trips from Vietnam to various countries in Asia and Europe.
In early 2025, he visited a small Khmer village in the middle of a rice field in An Giang . There, the tourist joined the locals in wrapping ca tum cakes – an elaborate traditional cake that few people still make today due to the labor-intensive process.
Leaving An Giang, Khoai Lang Thang continued his journey to Ca Mau , traversing the forest to reach a small village accessible only by boat. The atmosphere there gave him the feeling of returning to the Mekong Delta of decades past, with its simple, warm gatherings with locals from dawn till dusk.
After the Mekong Delta, his journey expanded to the world. He took his family to Bali (Indonesia) , where the lush green terraced rice fields reminded him of Northern Vietnam.
From there, he continued his travels to Japan at the invitation of promoting tourism in Fukushima Prefecture, then to France and Hong Kong (China) on business trips and to experience tourism at the invitation of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (China).

Next came a trip to Taiwan (China) lasting over a week. Khoai Lang Thang also spent a few weeks in Russia, where the video series received great support from viewers, before continuing his journey to the Meghalaya highlands (India) - a destination that left many beautiful memories and promises a return visit.
On his third trip back to India, he visited Kongthong , a village nestled in the jungle of the East Hills, Meghalaya. Located in one of the world's heaviest rainfall regions, Kongthong is foggy year-round, and travel there takes over three hours through numerous landslide-prone sections of road.
Here, he was invited to a villager named Salam's home for dinner. Because it was late in the afternoon and the village had run out of meat, the meal consisted only of cabbage, a stew made from potatoes, lentils, spices, and a few eggs. Salam mentioned that meat was expensive in Kongthong, and his family usually only ate it once a week.
When serving meals, even with a large family, they only serve a few bowls of food and leave the better portions for guests. According to Khoai Lang Thang, it was a simple meal, but it left the most lasting impression on his journey of discovery.

The final months of 2025 marked the beginning of his dream of living in a mobile home and traveling around the world. Although he traveled through many lands with different emotions, the place he always longed to return to was his homeland in the Mekong Delta.
"So, another year has come to an end. So much luck and happiness have come to Khoai this past year. Many dreams have come true, many memories have been etched, and many friends and acquaintances have been met along the way," the male travel blogger wrote.
He expressed his gratitude to those who have been with him throughout the journey and wished everyone a new year filled with breakthroughs and the readiness to move forward.
