A special market to welcome the spring.

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/01/2025

A special spring market was recently held at a kindergarten in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, to educate children about love, sharing, and environmental awareness.

The market is called "Love".

The market is an initiative of the teachers and students of Tan Phong Kindergarten, District 7, and will take place from December 23, 2024 to January 3, 2025. Before the market opens, the school calls on parents and children to contribute used items that are still worth more than 70%, such as toys, books, clothes, decorative items, etc.

After parents bring supplies and toys to school, the teachers and children will sort, clean, recycle, and carefully pack them into bags to arrange them in separate stalls according to their categories.

At the "Love" market, many interesting stalls were set up, and children, teachers, and parents enthusiastically went to the market, experiencing the "zero-cost" stalls, the book and children's supplies stalls, the decorative items stalls, the toy stalls, and more. The interesting thing is that the items here are sold at "unregulated" prices – meaning they depend on the generosity of the buyer or are given away for free, creating opportunities for other families to reuse them.

A marketplace for giving love and receiving sharing.

Ms. Pham Bao Hanh, Principal of Tan Phong Kindergarten, said that the "Love" market not only aims to contribute to improving the learning environment and adding more greenery to the school but also educates children about environmental protection and the spirit of mutual support. "Children participate in selecting and sorting items, learn how to share, and experience the joy of giving. These are valuable lessons that help shape beautiful character in children from a young age. The 'Love' market is also a way for teachers and students to welcome the spring of 2025 together," Ms. Bao Hanh said.

Ms. Tran Thi Thy An, parent of Bui Tran Minh Tu, currently in kindergarten (grade 4), said this was her first time experiencing the "Love Market" organized by the school. This is an opportunity for parents to strengthen their connection with the school and interact with other parents. "I see the creativity, dynamism, and humanitarian significance of the market. From this, the children will understand and learn how to live sustainably and share with other children," Ms. Thy An shared.

Some of the toys and supplies from the market will be sent to several underprivileged kindergens in Can Gio district, as gifts for the children there.

Throughout its duration, the "Love" charity market received enthusiastic support from numerous parents and the community. Just yesterday afternoon, January 3rd, the market received donations of 12,130,000 VND from parents.

"Among the supplies, toys, and books that parents sent to the charity market, the school set aside a portion to send to some underprivileged preschools in Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City, to share joy with other preschool children. With the money donated by parents after the market, the school will publicly and transparently use it to improve the green and clean environment and build an ideal learning and playing space for children," said Ms. Bao Hanh, the school principal.

Many activities help children understand traditional Tet (Vietnamese New Year).

To help children experience the atmosphere of welcoming spring and understand the traditional Tet holiday of their homeland, many preschools in Ho Chi Minh City have specific activities where children can make products with their own hands and live in the vibrant atmosphere of the spring festival.

At Tatu Kindergarten in Thu Duc City, children were able to observe and participate in making coconut jam under the guidance of their teachers. Similarly, children at Sao Mai Kindergarten in District 8 recently experienced an early Tet (Lunar New Year) atmosphere as the school was decorated with apricot and peach blossoms. Children also joined their teachers in making Vietnamese sandwiches and custard apple jam, learning about the ingredients and methods of preparing traditional Tet dishes from their homeland.

From now until the Lunar New Year holiday, preschools such as 19/5 City Preschool (District 1); City Preschool (District 3); Nam Saigon Preschool (District 7)... are organizing various activities such as Tet markets, stalls where children can learn to wrap banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), carve watermelons, make Tet jam, embroider Tet pictures, and color the year's mascot... These activities help children develop fine motor skills, learn teamwork, and celebrate the spring festival. They also incorporate visual lessons about family affection and local customs. Parents participate in these activities to strengthen the connection between families and schools.
