Anisio Cabral has emerged as one of Benfica's most promising young talents. Despite only having a few minutes of first-team playing time in the Primeira Liga, the Lisbon-born player has made a name for himself with his impressive goal-scoring record. This early burst of talent has prompted scouting departments in England and France to intensify their monitoring of him.
Manchester United view Cabral as a long-term investment for their attack. The Old Trafford leadership believes that the highly competitive environment of the Premier League demands a squad depth strong enough to allow for rotation.
After signing Benjamin Sesko last season, Manchester United continued their search for a promising young striker. Cabral's clinical finishing ability at the age of 17 and his versatile playing style make him a good fit for the English club's fast-paced system.
Conversely, PSG also entered the race with clear financial considerations. Coach Luis Enrique wanted to add new attacking players given the team's potential squad changes. Cabral's release clause was set at €65 million, but PSG hoped to negotiate a fee of around €50 million.
The Parisian club sees Cabral as an option to add to or replace Goncalo Ramos should he leave. The versatility of the striker, who came through the Alta de Lisbon academy, is highly valued in their long-term plans.
Benfica is maintaining a firm stance in the face of interest from Manchester United and PSG. Meanwhile, Anisio Cabral remains focused on playing in the Primeira Liga, awaiting a decision from negotiations between the major European clubs.
On November 28th, Anisio Cabral scored the only goal to help Portugal U17 defeat Austria 1-0 in the final of the World Youth Championship in Qatar. This was Cabral's seventh goal of the tournament, just one goal short of Austria's top scorer Johannes Moser, who also received the Golden Ball for the best player of the tournament.
