| Reading is Trang Anh's favorite activity during the summer holidays. |
In a small room at Block 46, Van Cao Street, Phan Dinh Phung Ward, Tran Thi Trang Anh, a 6th-grade student at Nguyen Du Secondary School, is diligently reviewing her Chinese lessons. Trang Anh's schedule during the summer break includes: reading, reviewing lessons, learning a foreign language, attending an MC class, helping her parents with household chores, and playing sports.
Ms. Tong Thi Thu Trang, Trang Anh's mother, said: "During the summer, I saw my daughter mature a lot. She proactively participated in skills classes, developed a sense of self-learning, and knew how to help her parents with appropriate chores around the house. In particular, she became more self-disciplined in managing her time."
Trang Anh shared: "Through this summer , I feel more confident, know how to manage my time better, and have learned a lot of new things."
During the summer months, the chess classroom at the General Services Center in Phan Dinh Phung ward is always bustling with students. Approximately 70 children are divided into three classes according to their skill level. On the small tables, the chess pieces constantly move in an atmosphere of concentration and excitement.
Each lesson begins with theory, followed by practice through live games. For many young children, the first few lessons are not easy as they have to memorize the movement of each piece and calculate their moves. However, the more they learn, the more they discover the appeal of this intellectual sport .
Trinh Ha Phuong, a second-grade student at Doi Can 2 Primary School, shared: "Many of my classmates know how to play chess, so I signed up for lessons so I could play with them. The first few lessons were quite difficult, but as I learned more, I found it very interesting."
According to teachers, chess helps children develop concentration, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. When faced with difficult positions, they learn to calmly analyze the situation; when they fail, they learn to recognize their mistakes and improve for the next time.

| Chess games help children develop their thinking skills, concentration, and perseverance. |
Ms. Tran Thi Trinh, a chess teacher at the General Services Center, said: "Many parents choose to enroll their children in chess because it is both entertaining and helps develop critical thinking. After the course, I hope the students will develop a habit of logical thinking and active learning."
Despite having different choices, most children take advantage of the summer break to learn new things, explore their abilities, and grow stronger each day.
In just a few weeks, the school bell will ring again, signaling the start of a new school year, and summer classes will come to an end. But what remains is not just new knowledge or skills, but also confidence, self-discipline, and wonderful experiences accumulated throughout the holiday.
For many children, summer is truly a time to understand themselves a little better and prepare the necessary tools for the journey ahead.
