A week before the Mid-Autumn Festival, the festive atmosphere spread throughout the province through a series of meaningful activities, contributing to bringing each child a complete and loving Mid-Autumn Festival.
The nights of the full moon festival are filled with excitement.
This year's Mid-Autumn Festival was more vibrant for children in Thanh Son than in previous years. About a week before the Mid-Autumn Festival, Thanh Son Primary School held the "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children - Lanterns Lighting Up Dreams" program. Notably, despite the bad weather and incessant rain, the program did not dampen the excitement of the children and their parents.

Ms. Phung Thi Mai (residing in Hamlet 3, Thanh Son Commune) said: "Since the teacher handed out the Mid-Autumn Festival gift vouchers, my children have been eagerly anticipating the program every day. Seeing how excited they are, I didn't hesitate to brave the rain and drive them dozens of kilometers to the 'Mid-Autumn Festival for Children - Lanterns Lighting Up Dreams' program. 'As long as I can see my children happy and create more memories for them, no matter how bad the weather is, I will try my best to bring them to participate. It's just a pity that it rained so heavily today, I could only bring the two middle children, while the youngest had to stay home,' Ms. Mai confided."
Responding to the children's excitement and anticipation, the organizers designed a high-quality Mid-Autumn Festival program. The children not only received gifts and enjoyed children's cultural performances by the specialized teams of the Dong Nai Children's House, but also had the opportunity to interact with the characters of Cuoi and Hang, watch magic shows, and especially participate in traditional games to win prizes.
Cao Thi My Chi, a student in class 4A3 at the Cach Mang branch of Thanh Son Primary School (in Hamlet 1, Thanh Son Commune), said: "This is the first time I've celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival so early and grandly. I participated in many games, and my favorite was painting statues. Since it was my first time painting statues, I painted very meticulously, hoping to create the most perfect product to take home as a souvenir." My Chi hopes to experience many more warm Mid-Autumn Festivals like this.
Like My Chi, many children throughout the province, from urban to rural areas, including remote and border regions, celebrated a warm and loving Mid-Autumn Festival. Ms. Nguyen Tran Phuong Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and President of the Provincial Children's Council, shared: This year, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival Night at over 10 locations in the province, including key locations such as Thanh Son, Tho Son, Loc Thanh, Song Ray, and the Dong Nai Children's House. Besides the activities of the Provincial Youth Union, various departments, agencies, and localities from hamlets and neighborhoods to communes and wards also organized Mid-Autumn Festival activities for children. Through this program, all levels and sectors hope to bring children a warm and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival.
Preserving traditions, nurturing dreams.
The Mid-Autumn Festival has long been a beautiful cultural tradition in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people, associated with the legend of Cuoi and Hang; lantern processions; lion dances; and feasting... In modern life, many forms of entertainment have emerged, but the traditional values of the Mid-Autumn Festival still need to be preserved and passed on.
Aware of this, the Youth Union of Xuan Lap Ward organized a Lantern-Making Contest with the theme "Lanterns Lighting Up Dreams." Ms. Nguyen Dan Ha, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward and Secretary of the Xuan Lap Ward Youth Union, said: "This is the first time the ward's Youth Union has organized a lantern-making contest to create a highlight after the merger of communes and wards, and especially to contribute to spreading the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival among union members and young people."
The competition attracted 10 teams (each with 10 members) from the ward's youth union branches. With requirements for lanterns to be at least 1.5m high, equipped with wheels, lights, and music; and made from traditional materials such as bamboo, cellophane, glue, and recycled materials, each branch created a lantern in a different style: star-shaped, animal-shaped, a map of Vietnam, etc. According to Ms. Dan Ha, these lanterns will be used in the lantern procession during the Mid-Autumn Festival, helping children in the ward celebrate the festival in a joyful and meaningful way.
This activity is not only taking place at the commune and ward level, but also at schools, where students have the opportunity to participate in many interesting activities. While in previous years, students at Chu Van An Secondary School (Cam My commune) participated in making lanterns, decorating fruit platters, and performing arts competitions during the Mid-Autumn Festival, this year they got to participate in the Cake Festival.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, the head teacher in charge of the Youth Union at Chu Van An Secondary School, shared: "The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only an occasion for children to have fun and receive gifts, but it also carries the meaning of family reunion. Therefore, every year, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the school organizes activities to attract students and parents to participate. This year's Cake Festival saw each class bring different types of cakes. After presentations and introductions, parents and students from all classes enjoyed a celebratory feast together, which helped strengthen the bond between students and parents in the class."
We highly appreciate the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Children's Council for organizing numerous Mid-Autumn Festival activities for children in the province, especially in remote areas. The gifts brought by the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Children's Council, and various departments, levels, and organizations not only contribute to the care of children but also help them gain more motivation to strive in their studies and lives.
Mr. Le Anh Quan, Vice Chairman of the Central Youth Union Council, Director of the Vietnam Children's Support and Development Center.
Beyond that, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also an opportunity to educate about the spirit of sharing. This year, students from Nguyen An Ninh Primary School (Tam Hiep Ward) donated 25 million VND to disabled students at the Dong Nai Provincial Center for Inclusive Education Development Support. This funding came from the students' savings in piggy banks, using their daily allowances. This activity not only contributes to material sharing but also educates the children about love and helping their friends, strongly spreading the spirit of mutual support and compassion within the community.
