According to Mr. Truong Ba Pha (67 years old, Head of Tan Phung 1 village), everything he knows about Vi Rong Cape has been passed down orally from previous generations. The legends about this place have become more vivid over time, and few documents or historical records fully document it.
Mr. Pha said that the Vi Rong Cape area was once wild and mysterious. Surrounded only by trees and sand, it was very difficult to access. Initially, Vi Rong Cape was a large monolithic rock, shaped like fish scales, so locals often called it "dragon scale rock." Mr. Pha believes that Vi Rong Cape is most beautiful at sunset. Viewed from above, it looks like a giant dragon stretching out into the vast ocean.
According to Truong Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Tho commune, Vi Rong Cape is becoming increasingly well-known. Images of the place are widely shared on social media, and tourists from all over are eager to visit, experience, and satisfy their curiosity about this scenic spot. The lives of the people in Tan Phung village have begun to change thanks to tourism .
Ms. Tong Thi Kim Hoang (Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province) excitedly shared that she and her close friends decided to choose Vi Rong Cape as their destination on their trip through Central Vietnam. "This was the right choice. Vi Rong Cape is stunning, with a wild and mysterious appearance. I felt the cool, fresh air of the natural scenery," Ms. Hoang shared.
“I was quite amazed when I saw Vi Rong Cape. Indeed, it was far different from what I had imagined. The scenery was poetic and charming, with clear blue sea, fine golden sand, and rows of rocks stretching along the coast… Everything blended together, making me feel like I had wandered into paradise,” said Mr. Le Tri Dat (from Ba Ria - Vung Tau province).
The Vi Rong Cape area offers visitors different experiences depending on the season. Not only in spring and summer, but even in winter when the sea is rough and the waves are high, it remains an ideal and unmissable location for those who love surfing, especially foreign visitors.
"There are so many international tourists. At times, groups of 8-10 people come. They stay at my house for a whole week to surf. I'm very happy because, in addition to having an extra source of income, I also have the opportunity to make friends from half a world away," a resident of Tan Phung village confided.
According to Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Dinh province, Vi Rong Cape is currently becoming a famous destination on the tourism map of Phu My district and Binh Dinh province. With its existing potential, Phu My district is actively coordinating with relevant departments and units to develop plans and organize conferences to attract investment in the tourism sector, aiming for strong and effective development of this "smoke-free industry".
The People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has issued a plan to implement tasks and solutions to promote tourism development, ensuring double-digit economic growth and achieving the target of welcoming 10 million visitors by 2025 (including approximately 110,000 international visitors); making tourism a key economic sector, creating a driving force for the development of other industries and fields. The province will proactively promote and stimulate tourism development in 2025 and subsequent years; diversify and improve the quality of products and services; and focus on building and developing new tourism products.
Local authorities should train and educate the community to become a team promoting and introducing the local tourism image to visitors, aiming for each citizen to be a tourism ambassador; at the same time, they should promote digital transformation and green transformation in local tourism development (continuing to build and update the industry's digital database; destination and product databases, etc.).
Binh Dinh will develop a comprehensive tourism infrastructure, connecting transportation to historical sites and tourist destinations; strengthen state management of tourism and tourist destination management in the province. The province has developed the 3K message: "No price gouging or unfair pricing; no poaching customers; no theft or fraud," and the 3A message: "Traffic safety; food safety; safety of life and property," contributing to building the image of local tourism…
