The resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as leader of the Labour Party – and soon as Prime Minister – has cast a more somber shadow over the decade of Brexit and its consequences. This period has been filled with illusions about Brexit.

It has been 10 years since the people of the UK voted to leave the EU ( Brexit).

Brexit was expected to free the country from the shackles of the EU, helping it develop into a "prosperous global Britain." But the reality of the past 10 years has forced the island nation to endure three bitter experiences.
Firstly, while the island nation truly gained freedom after leaving the EU, its economy suffered significantly from the exorbitant costs of customs procedures, border checks and controls, and the differences in standards and criteria applied to the production and supply of goods and services between the UK and its European economic and trade partners.
Secondly, while Brexit restored full national sovereignty to the sovereign state, it plunged the island nation into a tragicomic predicament. The number of citizens from EU member states entering the UK decreased significantly, while immigration from other parts of the world surged. The issue of foreign immigration became even more challenging for the island nation than before Brexit, leading to even deeper divisions within British politics and society.
Thirdly, Brexit caused the island nation's economic growth to decline, the cost of living for its citizens to rise, and nostalgia for the time spent in the EU became increasingly evident, especially among the youth. Britain's international influence declined and its prosperity decreased. The EU lost a major member but, thanks to the illusion surrounding the island nation, strengthened the union internally.
