Recently, the US aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt strike group conducted a large-scale joint exercise with Indian Navy frontline warships in the Indian Ocean.

On July 15, India's PTI news agency reported that a statement from the US Embassy in New Delhi indicated that the Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group operated alongside Indian Navy forces in the Indian Ocean on July 12, demonstrating the growing strategic alignment between the two sides in this crucial maritime domain.
The Indian Navy deployed the guided-missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam and the supply ship INS Aditya.
The U.S. Embassy stated: “This joint maritime operation has enhanced interoperability between our two major defense partners and underscores our shared commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo- Pacific region.”
During the exercise, US and Indian military forces focused on enhancing shared maritime domain awareness and information sharing, strengthening complementary interoperability and logistics, and improving air-to-air coordination capabilities.
The Indian Navy regularly participates with US Navy units in multilateral exercises across the Pacific , including Southwest Asia and the African coast.
In addition, the Indian Navy is playing a leading role alongside the US Navy and other allies and partners in the ongoing Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 exercise in Hawaii.
