According to the US news site Axios, the US launched attacks targeting air defense systems, radar, and command and control units for drones in southern Iran.
Immediately after the fighting broke out, Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya military command announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all ships, including oil tankers and commercial vessels. The Khatam al-Anbiya statement confirmed the US attacks on areas in Hormozgan province in southern Iran and warned that any ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz would become targets.
Prior to the outbreak of this new round of fighting, the United Nations Security Council held a high-level discussion on June 10 (US time) on the theme "Promoting a Political Solution in the Middle East: Mediation and Dialogue for Sustainable Peace." Speaking at the session, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the continued escalation of tensions in the Middle East, including the protracted Israeli-Palestinian conflict, fighting between Israel and Lebanon, US-Iran tensions, and instability in Somalia and Yemen.
