Mr. Trump said authorities had "arrested many people" believed to be responsible for damaging the lake's liner. This liner is part of Mr. Trump's more than $14 million project to combat algal blooms, which cause the lake's surface to lose its light reflectivity.

President Trump has confirmed that the lake may need to be drained again to repair the lining and has pledged to fix it quickly.
However, the timeframe remains unclear, and authorities have not responded to questions about the new repair work. In recent days, contractors and federal workers have been using chemicals and ozone nanobubbles to remove algae from the lake.
Mr. Trump had previously stated that he would renovate the lake to beautify and strengthen it, including eradicating the algae that had been damaging the lake for the past 100 years.
However, just weeks after Trump declared the renovations completed in time for Independence Day, the lake's water was again polluted by a layer of green algae, and the topsoil began to peel off.
