On February 5th, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a conference to summarize the work of organizing and caring for the Lunar New Year (Tet) in 2025; the socio-economic situation in January; and tasks and solutions for February 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen assessed that, strictly implementing the directives of the Central Government, Ho Chi Minh City has proactively led and organized the work of caring for the Tet holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025 with the spirit of a joyful, healthy, safe, economical, grateful, and meaningful Tet.

The Party Secretary stated that the current period is of special and crucial significance, as Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic development must accelerate and make breakthroughs to reach the finish line, given that this is the final year of the 2020-2025 term.

Meanwhile, the socio-economic situation in January showed positive results, with some indicators showing significant increases compared to the same period last year. However, some indicators did not meet expectations. The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the directors of relevant departments and agencies to urgently review, assess, and propose specific solutions to address these shortcomings. The city aims for double-digit GRDP growth, and these indicators must also grow at a similar rate.

Regarding solutions and tasks for February and the coming period, Mr. Phan Van Mai requested that departments, agencies, and localities immediately focus on their work with a spirit of innovation and decisiveness; strictly implement Directive 19 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on strengthening administrative discipline as well as the 1-3-7 formula in handling work, and the 3-3 formula for working groups. The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, heads of departments, agencies, and units, and chairmen of the People's Committees of localities must focus and be decisive in tightening administrative discipline.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also requested a focus on implementing tasks and solutions to ensure budget revenue and expenditure. Mr. Phan Van Mai noted the importance of collecting budget revenue from land resources; focusing on spending on items where the budget can be disbursed early to contribute to growth, and creating conditions for implementing tasks right from the beginning of the year, especially spending on public investment.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested a focus on tasks and solutions to ensure a 10% GRDP growth rate. First and foremost, it is necessary to ensure that total social investment capital reaches over 600,000 billion VND. Along with that, it is crucial to resolve outstanding projects; boost growth in the industrial and service sectors; and immediately implement approved planning schemes.

Mr. Phan Van Mai proposed the immediate implementation of outstanding policy mechanisms under Resolution 57 to develop science and technology , innovation, and digital transformation in businesses and scientific research units.

Focus on key projects and works.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai requested that departments and agencies focus on implementing important projects and works, first and foremost the list of projects and works to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country.
