According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, on June 16th, the Southern region will continue to experience showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the late afternoon and evening. Rainfall will generally range from 10-30mm, with some areas receiving over 60mm.
In the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, hot weather will continue on June 16th and 17th. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 38 degrees Celsius. The meteorological agency predicts that this heatwave is likely to last for several more days.
Meanwhile, from last night to this morning, June 16th, the midland and mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam experienced widespread heavy rainfall due to the influence of a monsoon trough and the convergence of ground winds at an altitude of 5,000m.
The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting warns that from June 16th to the night of June 17th, this area will continue to experience rain, with rainfall generally ranging from 60-130mm, and locally exceeding 220mm. Rain will be concentrated in the late afternoon and early morning, with a risk of heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm in 3 hours.
The provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Bac Ninh , Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, and Thai Nguyen received widespread rainfall of 100-200mm, with some areas exceeding 300mm. Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Son La, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau received 70-150mm of rainfall, with some areas exceeding 250mm.

The meteorological agency warns that heavy rains could cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial zones, while increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions. Lang Son, Cao Bang , Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien are among the localities at high risk of flash floods and landslides.
