Authorities said they are coordinating to handle the case of beauty queen Nam Em livestreaming to expose showbiz scandals, causing a stir online.

In recent days, Nam Em – Miss Mekong Delta 2015 – has been continuously livestreaming, attracting tens of thousands of viewers. During these sessions, she talks about her life, love, and some hidden aspects of the entertainment industry. Nam Em mentions a former boyfriend – whom she claims is also in showbiz – and alleges that a female actress uses stimulants. At one point, she declared, "In the entertainment industry, everyone dates wealthy men; it's just that they haven't been exposed yet." Although she didn't name names, many viewers discussed the information related to the person being "exposed," creating a negative reaction.

On the afternoon of February 22nd, at a regular press conference, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, stated that they had received numerous complaints about the incident. The representative of the management agency said they are planning and coordinating closely with relevant agencies to handle this case in accordance with legal procedures and regulations.

"We want to convey the message: Social media users are also beneficiaries of information from society. If we post only negative news and exploit it to insult others, we ourselves will be affected by the negative information flow. Authorities are determined to handle cases of exploiting social media to engage in deviant behavior and make statements that violate the law in order to attract followers," Mr. Hoi stated.

Later that same day, Nam Em apologized for the first time on her personal page. She stated that she had failed to fulfill her responsibilities as a citizen, causing a negative impact on social media in recent days. "I did not do well in my studies, nor did I love myself; instead, I clung to the wounds of the past. I accept full responsibility under the law," she said.
