An incident at the University of Hong Kong (China) is attracting significant media and public attention. Over 700 AI-generated "pornographic" images were found on the laptop of a male law student at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).
A student accidentally discovered these photos. After the incident was reported to the school, the male student received a disciplinary warning. He also issued a formal apology to the victims and voluntarily withdrew from the international student exchange program.

Recently, Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Ka-chiu instructed school leaders to strictly handle similar incidents. He also warned that actions that damage the honor and image of others could constitute a criminal offense.
The Department of Innovation, Technology and Industry stated that it will continue to monitor issues arising during the use of AI by individuals and organizations, as well as examine global trends in AI management, in order to provide appropriate solutions for similar incidents.
Currently, the development of specific laws related to AI remains a novel issue globally. Regarding the incident at HKU, the Office of the Personal Data Protection Commissioner announced that it has opened a criminal investigation.
Sun Dong, Director of the Technology and Innovation Bureau, warned AI users that they will be held legally responsible for how they use the tool. “AI is a double-edged sword… It’s crucial to have proper guidance and a comprehensive legal framework,” Sun told the media.
Christine Choi Yuk-lin, Director of the Education Bureau, also called on universities to strengthen moral education and humanistic values for students.

Recently, Spanish police announced that a 17-year-old male student is under investigation for allegedly using AI to create nude images superimposed with the faces of female classmates, and then selling them online.
The investigation was launched after 16 female students at an educational institution in Valencia reported the incident. Some students even had fake social media accounts created for them, which posted pornographic images and videos . Through initial investigations, police identified the suspect as a male student at the school.
Spanish authorities are actively developing legislation to address AI-related crimes, including the creation of explicit images using AI without the consent of the parties involved.
