With over 30% of its students coming from over 100 countries, HKU attracts a large number of students from the Asian region, including Vietnam. In 2024, HKU awarded more than 16 full scholarships for undergraduate programs to outstanding Vietnamese students, demonstrating the university's commitment to training and supporting young talents.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Ming Wen, Dean of the School of Social Sciences , University of Hong Kong, emphasized the importance of applying knowledge into practice.

“We are very proud of our students, who come from 140 different countries, bringing many different cultures and perspectives. Our training focuses heavily on knowledge exchange activities, combining academic training with practical experience,” shared Prof. Ming Wen.

Professor Qiang Zhou, Dean of the School of Science, The University of Hong Kong, also said: "HKU has an outstanding faculty and professors, including Nobel laureates and members of prestigious academic institutions. HKU graduates have excellent career prospects with the highest average income, especially in science fields."

University of Hong Kong - the "dream" destination of many students

According to recent statistics from the university, 98.8% of HKU graduates have found employment immediately after graduation. Many students have joined leading corporations such as Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Deloitte, and major non -governmental organizations, demonstrating the quality of training and the value of HKU degrees in the global labor market.

Established in 1939, HKU's Faculty of Science provides a diverse education, equipping them with versatile skills, ready for a wide range of careers not only in science but also in many other fields.

With a science degree from the University of Hong Kong, students will have the opportunity to work in cutting-edge industries such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, energy, environmental and climate science, as well as many other potential areas. With over 180 faculty members and 4,300 students, the Faculty of Science enables students to develop their skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Another highlight is that the Faculty of Science has more than 29,000 successful alumni in various fields, coming from over 50 countries. Furthermore, the faculty boasts 18.3% of its faculty members in the top 1% of the world’s most cited researchers over the past decade. These achievements not only affirm the faculty’s position but also demonstrate its ability to support students to make great strides in their scientific careers.

HKU’s Faculty of Social Sciences, established in 1967, plays a key role in guiding students to address global issues through internationalisation and innovation. Its programmes focus on key areas such as Geography, Politics, Psychology, and Sociology, with the aim of cultivating global citizens with sharp critical thinking and broad social awareness.

Here, students not only receive academic knowledge but also participate in international internship programs, helping them broaden their horizons and participate in practical social projects. In particular, students have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs with prestigious universities such as Sciences Po, UC Berkeley and the Geneva Institute of International Studies, opening up breakthrough development opportunities in their studies and careers.

One of the factors that attracts international students to HKU is the wide range of career opportunities after graduation thanks to policies to attract and retain talent. Notable programs include the Top Talent Pass Scheme, for graduates from the world’s leading universities, and IANG, which allows new graduates to work for 2 years without an invitation from an enterprise. These policies open up many open job opportunities and an ideal development environment for international students, especially from Vietnam.
