As a locality with a rapidly increasing population every year, theeducation sector of Lien Chieu district is facing great pressure to ensure sufficient quantity and quality of schools. Faced with this situation, the district government has proactively and actively implemented the project of building, upgrading and expanding schools in accordance with the city's orientation; focusing on key investments and speeding up the construction progress of projects. In the period of 2021-2025, a series of school projects in the area were started and put into use, contributing significantly to reducing the workload and improving learning conditions for students.
In the past year, Hong Quang Primary School (Hoang Van Thai Street, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward) invested nearly 25 billion VND to build a new 4-storey subject classroom block with a total floor area of 1,588m2. The project includes a multi-purpose playground, 6 subject classrooms, a kitchen, a storage room and a teachers' lounge. At the same time, the head office area was renovated and expanded to a 3rd floor; the fence system, external technical infrastructure items such as water supply and drainage, lighting, and landscape were upgraded synchronously, spaciously and modernly, contributing to building a safe, friendly and professional educational environment.
Another project completed and put into use is Vo Thi Sau Primary School (No. 2 Tran Dinh Tri, Hoa Minh Ward) with a total investment of 25.33 billion VND. The school has a new 3-storey subject classroom block with a total floor area of 1,582m2. A new 1-storey multi-purpose house has been built. Many other items such as: the fence system - gate and parking bay in front of the school have been upgraded; the school yard system, landscape has been supplemented with grass, trees, paved yard and drainage system outside the house; investment in fire prevention and fighting equipment, equipment for teaching.
According to Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Thuy, Principal of Vo Thi Sau Primary School, the investment in building a synchronous and modern infrastructure is an important foundation for the school to gradually complete the criteria, aiming to meet national standards. Currently, the school has nearly 1,800 students with 41 classes, while according to regulations, each class should not exceed 35 students. However, due to the rapid increase in population, the number of students per class must currently be maintained at 45 students, putting a lot of pressure on the teaching staff and facilities. Therefore, the renovation, upgrading and expansion of school facilities not only partly solves the overload situation but also contributes to improving the quality of educational activities.
Modern and synchronous facilities create a friendly learning environment, helping students to be interested and love going to school every day. This is also a condition for teachers to innovate teaching methods, organize creative activities, and maximize the capacity of each student. "The attention and investment of local authorities and the education sector is a great motivation for the school to constantly strive, promote the spirit of solidarity and creativity to improve the quality of comprehensive education in the coming time", Ms. Thuy emphasized.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lich, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Lien Chieu District, the sharp increase in the mechanical population has led to a sudden increase in the number of students each school year in the district. This puts great pressure on the school system, especially at the preschool, primary and secondary levels. In that context, the effective implementation of the project to build, upgrade and expand schools in the period 2021-2025 is of great significance, solving the problem of classroom shortage while ensuring the right to education for students in the area.
In recent times, the district education sector and related units have actively reviewed and assessed the current status of schools, and identified priority areas for investment according to the roadmap, based on population density and student growth rate. The Department of Education and Training has closely coordinated with the Investment and Construction Project Management Board and the district's functional departments and offices to focus on removing obstacles and speeding up the implementation of school projects in a synchronous, modern direction, suitable for long-term development needs.
Not only stopping at building more classrooms or expanding the area, the education sector of Lien Chieu district pays special attention to improving the quality of facilities, investing in modern, environmentally friendly teaching equipment and suitable for educational innovation. This is an important foundation for schools to gradually complete the criteria, strive to meet national standards, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education. From there, creating the best learning environment for students, motivating teachers to innovate teaching methods, and promote professional capacity.
“In the coming time, the industry will continue to coordinate with relevant units to remove obstacles and mobilize investment resources to complete the school network, meeting the requirements of educational development in the new period. At the same time, we will focus on improving the capacity of management staff and teachers, linking investment in facilities with innovation in methods and improving the quality of teaching and learning,” said Mr. Lich.
