As a predominantly agricultural commune, Son Hung identifies agricultural development as the main pillar in its economic development strategy. Annually, the commune cultivates nearly 200 hectares of rice and over 100 hectares of corn... Taking advantage of the large area of hilly land, the commune has encouraged people to develop tea and fruit tree cultivation; forming many concentrated production areas such as the Dien pomelo growing area, the high-quality rice growing area, and the safe vegetable growing area... The development of trademarks and traceability of local agricultural products has been promoted, contributing to increasing the value and competitiveness of Son Hung's agricultural products in the market.
Along with that, the commune focuses on expanding the integrated farming model (VAC) combined with family-run livestock farming, creating a stable source of income for hundreds of households. In addition, small-scale industries and service businesses have also seen many positive changes. The number of small businesses, agricultural supply stores, repair shops, construction companies, transportation services, etc., is increasing, creating more jobs and income for the people. The commune has planned the central area to develop services, forming new residential clusters, creating favorable conditions for households to switch professions. The entire commune has 12 manufacturing and trading companies and enterprises, 3 cooperatives, and 115 small-scale commercial and service businesses. These companies and businesses have created regular jobs for thousands of workers and contributed positively to the local budget.
In particular, the commune has successfully implemented sustainable poverty reduction through livelihood support models, vocational training, and job creation. Currently, the poverty rate in Son Hung has decreased to 3.7%, and the near-poverty rate to 4.52%.
