Tan Lan has flourished today, putting on a new look.
Immediately after the merger, Tan Lan commune quickly streamlined its administrative apparatus and reorganized its local government system to ensure efficient and continuous operation. Building on the foundation of two communes that had already achieved advanced new rural area standards (the former Tan Lan commune) and model new rural area standards (the former Phuoc Dong commune), Tan Lan continued to leverage its existing advantages.
Regarding trade and services, the locality has shown stability with an efficiently operating system of convenience stores, creating favorable conditions for people to buy and sell. In the industrial and handicraft sector, Tan Lan commune currently has 8 companies operating in the Phuoc Dong Port Industrial Park, attracting more than 5,000 workers from within and outside the locality. National Highway 50 and Provincial Roads 826 and 826B have become important industrial and commercial development axes of the locality, contributing to job creation and increasing income for the people.
With a large agricultural land area of nearly 2,000 hectares planted with rice, yielding an average of 6-6.5 tons/ha, Tan Lan commune is focusing on restructuring production and applying science and technology to improve efficiency. Leafy vegetable farming models provide stable income, covering a total area of approximately 11.5 hectares and producing 380 tons in the first six months of the year.
Livestock farming is also a strength of the commune, as it maintains effective disease prevention and control, with a vaccination rate of over 80% and no outbreaks occurring recently. The monitoring of slaughtering and trading of livestock and poultry is strictly controlled, ensuring environmental hygiene and food safety.
The Chairwoman of the Tan Lan Commune People's Committee, Le Thi Hong Tham, stated: “Tan Lan has maintained all 19/19 criteria for New Rural Development after the merger. However, with the motto 'Building New Rural Areas has a starting point, not an end point,' the local government does not stop at the results already achieved. The commune is conducting a review, assigning officials to be in charge of each criterion for New Rural Development, setting the goal of comprehensively improving all criteria, especially prioritizing investment in transportation and education – two fundamental elements of sustainable development.”
The merger of the two communes brings many benefits such as optimizing resources, reducing administrative costs, and synchronizing infrastructure and public services. As a result, Tan Lan commune has favorable conditions to implement public works, improve the quality of education and healthcare , and attract investment in the industrial and service sectors.
However, the commune still faces some difficulties regarding organizational structure, finance, and other social issues. To overcome these challenges, the locality is implementing many comprehensive solutions such as organizational planning, staff training, promoting citizen participation, seeking social resources, and accelerating the application of information technology in administrative management.
One of the highlights of Tan Lan commune in building new rural areas is the voluntary and proactive spirit of its people. Responding to the government's call, in recent years, people have donated land, contributed labor, and joined hands in building rural roads and maintaining environmental hygiene. Many hamlets have expanded internal field roads, creating favorable conditions for production and transportation for the people.
Simultaneously, the commune intensified its propaganda efforts, helping people understand their role in the national target program on building new rural areas. The commune's Steering Committee analyzed each criterion, assessed the level of achievement, and then selected appropriate steps to ensure effectiveness.
According to Ms. Le Thi Hong Tham, in the coming time, the Tan Lan commune government aims to improve the quality of life for its people through improved public services, economic development, and environmental protection. “We will promote investment attraction, develop industries and services, and apply technology to agricultural production, creating products with high economic value. The commune will also focus on investing in transportation infrastructure, public works, and implementing environmental protection solutions, aiming for sustainable and comprehensive development,” Ms. Le Thi Hong Tham stated.
Despite facing many challenges ahead, with a solid foundation and sound development orientation, Tan Lan commune has the potential to become one of the "bright spots" of Tay Ninh province in the New Rural Development movement.
