On the morning of June 6.6, questioned Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, delegate Nguyen Duy Thanh (Ca Mau delegation) asked the question: "Vietnamese people are smart and hard-working, but how can Vietnamese labor productivity develop and get out of the standard zone of ASEAN region and be on par with other countries in the world?".
Running the question-and-answer session, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue assessed this as the shortest question on the morning of June 6.6, but an important issue that many people care about is the labor productivity of Vietnamese people.
Answering this question, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that labor productivity depends on two big issues including capital, technology and skills and qualifications of workers. In which, skills and qualifications of employees are one of the important stages.
Acknowledging that Vietnam's labor productivity has been low in recent times, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said: "Disagree with some people who say that Vietnam's labor productivity is lower than some small countries next to us. Many people say that Vietnam's labor productivity is lower than Cambodia and Laos. No, not quite!”.
However, the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs acknowledged that Vietnam's labor productivity may be lower than the general average.
Labor productivity in Vietnam has many factors leading to its low level. Specifically, the distribution of labor in the agricultural sector is very high. These are workers who produce a lot of products but have low commercial value.
Secondly, according to Mr. Dung, Vietnam's labor scale is very large. Therefore, the same job should be done by one person, but we share it with many people, so the labor productivity is also lower.
Referring to the solution, Mr. Dung said there are 3 things to pay attention to, including restructuring the workforce; improve the quality of training and retraining, the quality of human resources, especially high-quality human resources; At the same time, restricting the use of labor in labor-intensive industries.
Raising a sign to argue with Minister Dung, delegate Be Trung Anh (Tra Vinh delegation), permanent member of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council, said that the cause of qualifications and technology is only one part.
“I think that Vietnam's labor productivity is low due to the very low level of personal responsibility. Instead of being personally responsible, one person decides the work, we hold a meeting of 10 people to decide, so the productivity is only 1/10 of the number of people participating in that meeting, "said Mr. Be Trung Anh. .
