Although he could not complete the goal of winning tickets to the final, coach Troussier was still satisfied with the U22 players in Vietnam.
“U22 Vietnam entered the game with the goal of winning and reaching the final, so this result disappointed us.
But the players have shown bravery in difficult times. They found the equalizer through the proposed solution and I am satisfied with that,” said Mr. Troussier.
In addition, the French military leader once again affirmed that the cause of the goal in the 90+7 minute of U22 Vietnam was due to an inexperienced player.
“The goal of injury time came because the U22 Vietnam squad was still young, including many U20 players, so the bravery and experience were not enough to make the right decisions at the important time.
Anyway, I'm happy with the players. They fought hard. I asked the players to change their mindset, to take the initiative to play and attack," said coach Troussier.
In this match, U22 Vietnam played quite well. Especially when they have an advantage over people, the white shirt players have created great pressure on the Indonesian U22 goal.
However, the strikers of U22 Vietnam proved to be quite ungrateful in finishing situations.
Coach Troussier said: “After Indonesia received the red card, we had many opportunities to finish the game. But the players make the wrong decisions, at the wrong time.
However, I do not lose faith in the players. They played very hard and performed well with the tactics given. But this is football, there will be winners and losers.”
Despite losing to U22 Indonesia, Khuat Van Khang and his teammates still had a bronze medal match on May 16 with the losing team in the semi-final pair between Thailand and Myanmar.
