The “foundation” of sport horse riding

After 3 years of establishment, the Vietnam Equestrian Federation's Steering Committee has promoted cooperation and mobilized resources from organizations and individuals to invest in training in horse racing and equestrian sports nationwide. Thereby, participating in horse racing, equestrian and artistic horse shows in the country to select the best horses and jockeys (coaches) to participate in regional and international competitions. Currently, in Vietnam, there are 33 clubs across provinces and cities participating with a total of more than 450 racing and performance horses, ready to join the federation, of which Thien Ma Madagui Club in Madagui commune (Lam Dong) has 70 racing and performance horses.

Up to now, the Asian Equestrian Federation has 35 member countries, of which Southeast Asia has 8/11 countries except Vietnam, Laos and Timor Leste. Vietnam had planned to include Equestrian Sport in the 31st SEA Games, but due to not meeting some basic conditions, this sport was not proposed by the host Vietnam. At the second meeting between the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Vietnam Equestrian Sport Federation and representatives of Equestrian Sport Clubs held last May, most opinions agreed that the establishment of the Vietnam Equestrian Sport Federation at this time was extremely necessary, thereby helping Vietnamese Equestrian Sport to join the International Equestrian Federation and the Asian Equestrian Federation, participating in competitions at the SEA Games and Asiad.

“Currently, my biggest wish is that the Vietnam Equestrian Federation will soon be established and we can win medals when participating in the SEA Games. In the immediate future, we aim to compete and win a bronze medal at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025 in Thailand. In the 2027 SEA Games, Vietnam Equestrian Sports aims to win a silver medal. In the 2029 SEA Games, we aim to win a gold medal. We strive from low to high, from the SEA Games arena first and then the Asiad. If we can do that, not only will equestrian sports bring glory to the country's sports but also contribute to building and developing the equestrian sports movement in Vietnam and integrating internationally,” said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc My, Head of the Organizing Committee for the establishment of the Vietnam Equestrian Sports Federation. In addition, the establishment of the federation will help the clubs that are training horses for tourism , compete with basic standards of care, training and access to new knowledge, gradually integrating. The clubs will participate in promoting tourism as horse riding is increasingly popular with tourists.

The Vietnam Equestrian Federation will be launched next October, which can be considered a historical milestone for the country's Equestrian Sports, opening a new path, a new future for this popular and developing sport in Vietnam. In the short term, the Federation aims to establish a training center for racing and sport equestrian athletes; organize specialized training courses led by foreign coaches; open training courses on shoeing skills for racing horses; support federation members in establishing and registering equestrian clubs in localities; organize annual equestrian competitions; join regional and continental Equestrian Sports Federations, participate in the SEA Games and Asiad.
