After three years since its establishment, the Vietnam Equestrian Sports Federation's Steering Committee has promoted cooperation and mobilized resources from organizations and individuals to invest in training for equestrian and horse racing sports nationwide. Through this, they participate in national equestrian and horse racing competitions and artistic horse performances, selecting the best horses and jockeys to participate in regional and international competitions. Currently, there are 33 clubs across Vietnam with a total of over 450 racing and performance horses, ready to join the federation. The Thien Ma Madagui Club in Madagui commune (Lam Dong province) alone has 70 racing and performance horses.

To date, the Asian Equestrian Federation has 35 member countries, of which 8 out of 11 are from Southeast Asia, excluding Vietnam, Laos, and Timor Leste. Vietnam had planned to include equestrian sports in the 31st SEA Games, but due to not meeting some basic conditions, the sport was not subsequently proposed by the host country. At the second meeting between the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Vietnam Equestrian Federation and representatives of equestrian clubs, held last May, most opinions agreed that establishing the Vietnam Equestrian Federation at this time is absolutely necessary, thereby enabling Vietnamese equestrian sports to join the International Equestrian Federation and the Asian Equestrian Federation, and participate in competitions at the SEA Games and Asiad.

“Currently, my greatest wish is for the Vietnam Equestrian Sports Federation to be established soon so that we can win medals at the SEA Games. Our immediate goal is to gain experience and win a bronze medal at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025 in Thailand. For the 2027 SEA Games, Vietnam's equestrian sports team aims for a higher goal: a silver medal. By the 2029 SEA Games, we aim for a gold medal. We strive to progress from the bottom up, starting with the SEA Games and then the Asian Games. If we achieve this, not only will equestrian sports bring glory to our national sports, but it will also contribute to building and developing the equestrian sports movement in Vietnam and integrating it internationally,” said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc My, Head of the Steering Committee for the Establishment of the Vietnam Equestrian Sports Federation. Furthermore, establishing a federation will help clubs training horses for tourism and competition to meet basic standards in care, training, and access new knowledge, gradually integrating into the global community. These clubs will also contribute to promoting tourism as horseback riding becomes increasingly popular with visitors.

The Vietnam Equestrian Sports Federation will launch this coming October, a historic milestone for equestrian sports in Vietnam, opening a new chapter and a new future for this popular and developing sport. In the short term, the Federation aims to establish a training center for racehorse and equestrian athletes; organize professional training courses led by foreign coaches; open training courses on shoeing skills for racehorses; support federation members in establishing and registering equestrian clubs in their localities; organize annual equestrian competitions; join regional and continental equestrian sports federations; and participate in the SEA Games and Asian Games.
