Traditional pottery making plays a significant role in the economic , cultural, and social life of the Cham people. Pottery is an indispensable item in the daily life and activities of each family and in the religious culture of the Cham community. In Binh Thuan province today, only the Cham people in Binh Duc village, Phan Hiep commune, Bac Binh district still make pottery using the traditional techniques and processes of their ancestors.
The entire pottery-making process of the Cham people exudes a distinctive artistic value. Under the skillful hands of the women, mothers, and sisters, the pottery products possess a unique beauty, deeply rooted in Cham culture and beliefs, yet also extremely simple and rustic, reflecting the straightforward, honest, and unpretentious nature of the people here.
Although pursuing and developing traditional crafts in today's era is a challenge, as most traditional products cater to a specific customer base or are intended for tourism and exploration, the people of ethnic minorities born and raised in the craft villages of Phan Hiep commune still cherish the idea of preserving their craft as both a responsibility and a source of pride.
