By hesitating to renew his contract with Al Hilal, Neves clearly demonstrated his desire to return to the European continent. |
According to Marca , the midfielder of Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia) has expressed his desire to leave the club in the upcoming winter transfer window in order to return to play in Europe.
Sources close to the player say Neves wants to return to Europe to have the opportunity to play competitive football at the highest level, in order to better prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
This move comes after Manchester United approached the player. Coach Ruben Amorim is no stranger to Neves, and bringing him in to partner Bruno Fernandes in midfield could help MU solve many problems.
In the past, MU wanted to buy Neves, after his talent was proven in the Premier League while playing for Wolves.
Neves' contract with Al Hilal expires in June 2026, and he has yet to respond to three contract extension offers from the club.
All signs point to a departure. Al Hilal are reportedly willing to sell Neves for around €20 million in the January transfer window, and the Premier League and Manchester United are his preferred destinations.
