This is evidenced by data from the Ukrainian Air Force. In total, during the large-scale attack on the night of June 2nd, Russian forces launched 33 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov regions and the Crimean Peninsula.
The main target of the attack was Kyiv, but the Dnipro, Zaporizhia, and Kharkiv regions were also targeted by missile strikes.
Russia also used 8 Zircon hypersonic missiles, 27 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 5 Kalibr missiles, as well as 656 drones of various types, mainly Shahed. To distract Ukrainian air defenses, they also used decoy UAVs.
The air attack was repelled by the air force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to preliminary data, Ukrainian air defense systems shot down/neutralized 642 targets, including 40 missiles and 602 drones of various types.
The defense forces intercepted 11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 26 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 3 Kalibr missiles.
"To date, 30 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 33 drones have been detected attacking 38 locations, as well as debris from downed UAVs at 15 locations," a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated.
Ukraine claims four people were killed in Kyiv and nine in Dnipro, with dozens more injured. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged in both cities.

Previously, there had been no official reports of Russia using so many ballistic missiles in a single attack.
On February 3, 2026, according to the Russian Air Force, they launched 32 ballistic missiles, but some of them were anti-aircraft missiles from S-300/400 systems modified for attacking ground targets.
Throughout January 2026, Russia launched 91 ballistic missiles into Ukraine, the highest monthly number during the entire full-scale war.
