In an interview with the TASS news agency, when asked whether Russian-American talks were still possible almost a year after the Anchorage meeting, Maria Zakharova remained optimistic, adding that neither side had withdrawn from the negotiations.

"We want the negotiations with the US to be more vigorous and effective, and there are all the opportunities for that," Zakharova said. "On the Russian side, we are ready to work, so, of course, the work continues."

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the current situation in the Middle East is the focus of most US government agencies. At the same time, the Russian diplomat added that despite the Middle East issue, contacts between Russia and the US continue, and embassies remain operational, albeit at a very limited level.

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (Republican, representing Florida) said the U.S. administration could facilitate a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic actions and maintaining contact with Russia.

"I want to be the first to congratulate U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. While that hasn't happened yet, using mature diplomacy and maintaining open dialogue with Russia is the way the U.S. administration will succeed," she wrote on social media. "Anyone who thinks that refusing to discuss with Russia is the best way to resolve the war is mistaken."
