According to the TASS news agency, Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of the state-owned Rostec technology corporation, has signed agreements to supply 21 civilian-version Mi-171 helicopters to the Iranian Red Crescent.
These new vehicles are expected to be used for air emergency services, cargo and passenger transport, as well as other social and humanitarian missions.
The company's CEO, Nikolai Kolesov, reiterated that Iran has been a partner of the Russian helicopter industry for many years. The business leader noted that dozens of Russian civilian helicopters are operating in the country, serving various economic sectors and assisting in important public service tasks.
Russian Helicopters said the first helicopters under the new supply contract are expected to be delivered to the customer in 2027.

The Mi-171 is considered one of the most popular civilian versions of the Mi-8 helicopter series. Used for rescue operations, medical evacuations, passenger transport, and operations in hard-to-reach areas, it is seen as one of the most reliable aircraft Russia offers abroad.
Notably, the Mi-171 can be easily converted into a military version by adding rocket launchers or anti-tank missile launchers, along with optical observation equipment, making it a truly versatile helicopter.
