On August 21, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 2245 on organizing the "National Concentrated Promotion Program 2024 – Vietnam Grand Sale 2024" from December 2 to December 31, 2024, nationwide. Immediately afterwards, on September 26, 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade issued Plan No. 79 to implement the program throughout the province to strengthen promotion and boost production and consumption.

Businesses respond positively.

This year, the plan for implementing the "National Concentrated Promotion Program 2024" was issued early by the Department of Industry and Trade to create proactive opportunities for businesses, economic organizations, and distributors in the province to set business goals and participate in the program.

Mr. La Duc Doan, Head of the Trade Management Department of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: All businesses can participate in the program by proactively carrying out various promotional activities with diverse and attractive content; and proactively deciding to apply a maximum promotional limit of up to 100%. To ensure the program brings practical results, the department has advised the Department to coordinate with relevant agencies according to their functions and duties to monitor and supervise businesses to ensure that promotional programs are legal, honest, open, transparent, and protect the interests of consumers as well as the quality of goods and services…

To date, the Department of Industry and Trade has received 495 promotional programs from businesses and organizations across various sectors such as electronics, home appliances, fashion, and essential consumer goods. It is expected that the number of businesses and organizations registering to participate in these programs will be higher this year than in 2023. The goal of these businesses is to both increase sales and ensure customer benefits through promotional and customer appreciation programs to stimulate consumer demand.

This year, businesses not only actively participated but also combined the program with traditional and e-commerce activities to create wider reach and attract the attention of diverse customers.

For example, Media Mart electronics supermarket has proactively implemented promotional programs and intensified their advertising through social media, websites, and flyers. Mr. Vu Duy Chien, the supermarket's director, stated: "As soon as we received information about the 'National Concentrated Promotion Program 2024,' we developed a plan, selected products, and determined the content of the promotional program to implement in the last month of the year. The supermarket focuses on promoting items that suit consumer tastes and needs, such as washing machines, televisions, and heating equipment. Discounts of 25% to 70% on many items are applied simultaneously through both e-commerce and our three physical locations in the province, thereby contributing to the business's profitability and customer benefits."

Not only large supermarkets, but also retail chains, distributors, fashion brands, etc., are simultaneously launching promotional programs and stepping up advertising, displaying eye-catching promotional billboards in front of their business locations to attract customers.

Boosting the consumption of goods.

According to information from the Department of Industry and Trade, as well as surveys conducted by reporters in Lang Son city, this year's promotional programs implemented by businesses are diverse and abundant. For example, electronics supermarkets in the province have been offering many attractive promotions, attracting a large number of customers.

Mr. Luong Van Hoa, Director of HC Electronics Supermarket Lang Son Branch, said: "From the beginning of December, the supermarket launched the 'Year-End Price Support, Buy 1 Get 2' promotion program with a total value of promotional goods exceeding 3 billion VND. The supermarket offered many attractive incentives such as: discounts from 22% to 50% on household appliances, TVs, refrigerators, heaters, etc.; 0% interest installment payments; free shipping and installation… Since the program was implemented, the supermarket has welcomed an average of over 100 customers per day, an increase of 20-35% compared to normal days, and the quantity of goods sold has also increased by about 30% compared to before the promotion."

Not only electronics supermarkets, but also consumer goods supermarkets such as WinMart, Lasvilla, Thanh Do… and convenience stores in the province are simultaneously launching many discount and promotional programs to increase competitiveness and stimulate consumer demand.

Ms. Luc Mai Huong, manager of Thanh Do Supermarket (Lang Son City), said: The supermarket offers a wide variety of goods, from fresh food, dried goods, household items… to fashion. Therefore, to boost sales and better serve the increased consumer demand in the last month of the year, the supermarket has launched many promotional programs and offers such as: a 20% discount on beef; a 20-50% discount on fashion items; and free gifts with the purchase of shampoo and shower gel… Thanks to the implementation of these promotional programs, from the beginning of December until now, the supermarket has welcomed an average of about 1,000 customers per day, and the quantity of goods sold has increased by about 20% compared to normal days.

With numerous promotional programs, businesses have been attracting the attention of the public. Ms. Truong Thanh Hien, from Hoang Van Thu ward, Lang Son city, said: "I've noticed that since the beginning of December, many supermarkets and stores have offered attractive discounts and promotions, applicable to a wide range of products across various categories, from food and household goods to fashion items. I took advantage of the 50% discount and bought three pairs of shoes for myself and my family at Tokyo Life."

With the enthusiastic participation of distribution businesses and retailers, the "National Concentrated Promotion Program 2024 – Vietnam Grand Sale 2024" has been helping to increase retail sales of goods and services revenue in the province. According to estimates from the Department of Industry and Trade, total retail sales of goods in the province in December will increase significantly, contributing to a total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue in 2024 estimated at VND 37,392.2 billion, a 13% increase compared to the previous year.

Mr. Lieu Anh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized: After four years of implementation, the National Concentrated Promotion Program has yielded positive results, strengthening trade promotion activities at the right time, creating a boost to promote production and business activities, and stimulating consumer demand for products and services in the province. With the remaining time for the program in 2024, the department will continue to create the most favorable conditions for businesses and distribution units to register and implement promotional and customer appreciation programs in accordance with the law, ensuring both the positive impact of the program and the benefits of businesses and consumers.

The "National Concentrated Promotion Program 2024 – Vietnam Grand Sale 2024" is also the last large-scale trade promotion activity to be implemented before the end of 2024. With the results achieved so far, the program will make a significant contribution to helping the industry and trade sector of Lang Son, as well as the whole country, achieve the goals set for trade development this year, thereby creating momentum for breakthroughs in 2025 and the following years.
