Meritorious Artist Tuan Phong, famous for his song "Boat and Sea," passed away at the age of 72.
The news of artist Tuan Phong's passing on November 10th has saddened his colleagues and students. People's Artist Ta Minh Tam stated that Meritorious Artist Tuan Phong had taught at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. He was a sociable, kind-hearted person, highly respected by his friends, colleagues, and students. "He was a renowned singer in the 1980s and 1990s, possessing a high tenor voice and refined technique, successfully performing songs by composer Phan Huynh Dieu. His passing leaves a deep sense of loss in everyone's hearts," artist Ta Minh Tam expressed.
According to the obituary, the funeral of artist Tuan Phong will be held at the funeral home of Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. The embalming ceremony will take place on the afternoon of November 10th, and the funeral procession will begin on the morning of November 13th. Afterwards, his remains will be cremated at Binh Hung Hoa crematorium in Ho Chi Minh City.

Meritorious Artist Tuan Phong, whose full name is Nguyen Tuan Phong, was born in 1952 in Hanoi . From a young age, he showed a passion for singing. At the age of 16, he won a prize in the Hanoi Youth Singing Contest with the song " The Gong of Liberation , the Gong of Victory" by composer Hoang Van. Artist Tuan Phong graduated from the Biology Department of Hanoi University. Afterwards, he continued his studies at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music. In 1972, he joined the Southern Song and Dance Troupe, and later studied vocal music at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.
In 1981, artist Tuan Phong won second prize at the National Professional Music and Dance Festival with his performance of the song " Footprints Ahead" . He continued his success with second prize at the 1988 Chamber Music Competition. Throughout his career, Meritorious Artist Tuan Phong has left his mark on audiences with songs such as "Boat and Sea", "Love Poem at the End of Autumn", "Evening of Longing", "Hello, My Girl from Lam Hong", "I Am a Driver", "My Love", "Beloved Homeland "... He was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 1996.
