Art installation from discarded items decorates Tam Thanh fishing village

(Dan Tri) - Tam Thanh mural village these days has become brilliant and vibrant in a new color thanks to mural paintings, installation art... created by 120 volunteers working together.

In recent days, the coastal road in Hoa Thuong and Hoa Ha villages (Tam Thanh commune, Tam Ky city, Quang Nam ) has become vibrant and bustling. Many seemingly discarded objects have become more lively and eye-catching, associated with the message of environmental protection and preserving the coastal village space. This is an activity within the program "Developing artistic products at Tam Thanh community art village" in 2024, contributing to enriching artistic products serving tourism development here.

There were about 120 people participating, including volunteer artists from Hanoi and other provinces across the country, artists from Tam Ky city, the city's education sector's Fine Arts Club and Tam Ky City Youth Union. The artists painted 20 murals on the walls of local houses, 33 works on basket boats, 50 oars, many sculptures, installations and displays. The artists also created works on locally produced items donated by local people such as jars and oars. Artist Tran Thi Thu (from Hanoi) said that since 2017, every year she has participated in creating works at Tam Thanh mural village. She feels very happy and honored to be one of the artists who have beautified this fishing village, contributing to attracting tourists to the locality.

Mr. Vo Quang Han - Vice Chairman of Tam Thanh Commune - said that the program to develop artistic products at Tam Thanh community art village this year is mainly focused on sculptures and installations. These are two products that are highly appreciated by tourists and locals. "This year's theme reflects the life of fishermen in the Tam Thanh sea area in the most authentic way with unique and familiar products to serve tourists," said a representative of Tam Thanh commune.

This summer, coming to Tam Thanh, not only the blue sea, white sand or the traditional fish sauce village, visitors can also enjoy and take photos with the unique and impressive works of art created here. Tam Thanh community art village (also known as Tam Thanh mural village) located in Tam Thanh coastal commune (Tam Ky city, Quang Nam) was inaugurated and put into operation in 2017, with 2 main art products: the mural village and the art road on basket boats.

The village was awarded the Asian Landscape Award in 2017 by the Asian Landscape Awards Council. In 2023, the village was officially recognized as a tourist destination. Every year, the local government has a program to develop artistic products, inviting artists to paint more murals on the walls of houses and basket boats.
