(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Tam Thanh Mural Village has become vibrant and lively these days with a new look thanks to the murals and art installations created by 120 volunteers working together.
In recent days, the coastal road in Hoa Thuong and Hoa Ha hamlets (Tam Thanh commune, Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province) has become vibrant and bustling. Many seemingly discarded items have been brought to life, becoming more eye-catching and conveying messages of environmental protection and preservation of the coastal village's landscape. This activity is part of the "Cultivating Artistic Products at Tam Thanh Community Art Village" program in 2024, contributing to enriching artistic products to serve tourism development in the area. Approximately 120 people participated, including volunteer artists from Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide, artists from Tam Ky city, the city's Education Sector Fine Arts Club, and the Tam Ky Youth Union. The artists painted murals on 20 walls of local houses, 33 on basket boats, 50 on oars, and numerous sculptures, installations, and exhibits. The artists also created works on locally produced items donated by the people, such as jars and oars. Artist Tran Thi Thu (from Hanoi) said that since 2017, she has participated in enhancing the artwork at Tam Thanh mural village every year. She feels very happy and honored to be one of the artists who have beautified this fishing village, contributing to attracting tourists to the area. Mr. Vo Quang Han, Vice Chairman of Tam Thanh Commune, said that this year's program to enhance artistic products at the Tam Thanh Community Art Village focuses mainly on sculptures and installations. These two products have been highly appreciated by tourists and locals. "This year's theme reflects the lives of fishermen in the Tam Thanh coastal area in the most authentic way with unique, relatable products to serve visiting tourists," said the representative of the Tam Thanh Commune leadership. This summer, a visit to Tam Thanh offers more than just blue seas, white sands, and traditional fish sauce making; tourists can also enjoy and take photos with unique and impressive works of art created here. The Tam Thanh Community Art Village (also known as the Tam Thanh Mural Village), located in Tam Thanh coastal commune (Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province), was inaugurated and opened in 2017, featuring two main art products: the mural village and the art pathway on traditional basket boats. Every year, the locality organizes a program to cultivate artistic products (Photo: Ngo Linh). The village was awarded the Asian Landscape Award in 2017 by the Asian Landscape Award Council. In 2023, the village was officially recognized as a tourist destination. Every year, the local government implements a program to enhance the art, inviting artists to paint additional murals on the walls of people's houses and on fishing boats.
