Against this backdrop, Marseille has just undergone a major shake-up on the coaching bench. The club confirmed that coach Roberto De Zerbi has left the team by mutual agreement, following the heavy 0-5 defeat against PSG. Last season, the Italian strategist led Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1, but the team has now fallen to fourth place and is 12 points behind PSG.

De Zerbi's departure could significantly impact Greenwood. It was the former Brighton manager who gave Greenwood the opportunity to shine by requesting that Marseille's board sign him from Manchester United in the summer of 2024.
