According to Mr. Trinh Ngoc Hiep, deputy director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Health , the department's specialized agencies have provided the investigating authorities with data and information on patient samples.
"The Department will also coordinate with the Nha Trang City People's Committee in handling administrative matters related to the restaurant. Following this incident, and in the coming months with many tourism and cultural activities, a large number of tourists will flock to the area. The Department of Health, the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, and other relevant units will strengthen inspections of restaurants and collective kitchens...", Mr. Hiep informed.
According to the leaders of the Nha Trang City People's Committee, no penalties have been imposed on the owner of the Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant yet. The Health Department is coordinating with the Nha Trang City Police, the City Health Center, the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang, and other relevant units to continue reviewing camera footage to detect violations and suspected causes of food poisoning. Once conclusions are reached, they will advise the City People's Committee to issue a decision on handling the case according to regulations.
Recently, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province also sent a document requesting the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the two departments of Justice and Science and Technology, and the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Analytical and Testing Services to re-test the water samples.
Previously, the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang tested tap water samples taken from the processing area at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant, and the results showed the presence of Escherichia coli and Coliform bacteria.
Water samples taken from the well tank used for washing utensils contained Escherichia coli, Coliform, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.
In addition, test results of food samples taken from the restaurant during lunch on March 11th and 12th revealed the presence of Salmonella, Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in chicken dishes, egg sauce, pickles, etc.
Based on the test results, the investigating police agency requested further examination to gather evidence for the investigation.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the food poisoning incident resulted in 368 people needing medical examination and treatment, and the Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant was suspended from operation to facilitate the investigation.
