While at sea, Da Nang fishermen discovered the whale's body and brought it ashore to bury it according to local traditional customs and rituals.
On the evening of October 26, the People's Committee of Tho Quang Ward (Son Tra District, Da Nang City) said that local authorities and fishermen of the fishing village had completed the burial procedures for the whale according to local customs.
On the same morning, fisherman Truong Dong Phong (residing in Tho Quang Ward) reported to the local authorities that he had discovered a whale carcass drifting while his fishing boat was on its way to shore after a trip at sea. The fishermen approached, picked the whale up on board and brought it to the mainland.

At the beach in Tho Quang Ward, fishermen brought the whale (about 1.5m long, weighing about 100kg) to the sandbank, then reported to the Tho Quang Ward People's Committee and the elders of the fishing village to carry out burial procedures. According to the traditional customs of local fishermen, after 3 years of burial, the whale's bones were brought to be worshiped in the whale's mausoleums and temples in the Da Nang coastal area.
