On May 15th, Director of the Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha announced that the program, organized by the Department across the city, included Me Linh district as the first to offer free health check-ups.
Five groups of people will be examined and have their health records managed, including: children under 5 years old; primary, secondary, and high school students; the elderly and retirees; and civil servants, public employees, and self-employed individuals.

According to Tran Quang Trinh, Director of Me Linh General Hospital, each comprehensive health check-up package costs approximately 145,000 VND, excluding blood tests. People receive blood pressure, respiratory rate, and vision measurements; a general internal medicine examination covering cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, musculoskeletal, neurological, and psychiatric conditions; and paraclinical examinations as indicated; as well as a general abdominal ultrasound. After the examination, the doctor concludes on each person's health status and enters the data into the software; and guides people to download a health tracking app on their smartphones.
It is expected that by May 31st, the district will have completed health check-ups and established health records for over 180,000 people, accounting for approximately 75% of the district's total population. The funding, totaling over 20 billion VND, was raised through social mobilization by the district.

"Establishing electronic health records for the entire population aims to reduce administrative procedures and facilitate medical examinations and treatment," said Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, and requested the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment ( Ministry of Health ) to provide personnel support to the city to implement the plan for health check-ups for the people. Those with chronic or serious illnesses will be directed to specialized hospitals for examination.
Since 2021, Hanoi has aimed to provide at least one annual health check-up for all its residents. However, due to various reasons and the Covid-19 pandemic, the free health check-up plan has only recently been implemented.
