As Head of the Surgery Department, Dr. Thuy not only excels in management but also directly participates in the examination, treatment, and emergency consultations of many serious cases. Remembering President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "A good doctor is like a loving mother," he always puts the patient at the center, diligently examining, listening to, and sharing in the difficulties patients face during treatment.
The night of February 10, 2026, was a memorable shift for Dr. Thuy and her team. A 5-year-old child was admitted to the hospital with severe traumatic brain injury due to a domestic accident, with complex injuries such as multiple skull fractures, intracranial hemorrhage, brain contusion, and cerebral edema. Recognizing this as a critical case that could not be delayed and carried significant risks if transferred to another hospital, the doctors decided to perform emergency surgery immediately at the hospital with the direct support of the team from the Provincial General Hospital.
After nearly two hours of surgery, the team removed the hematoma, treated the brain injury, controlled the bleeding, and reconstructed the skull, relieving brain compression and controlling the damage. The successful surgery not only saved the child's life but also demonstrated the effectiveness of the inter-hospital consultation model, allowing patients to receive timely intervention locally and improving their chances of recovery.

Closely associated with Tien Yen Regional General Hospital Since graduating from a medical assistant program in 2005, Dr. Thuy has continuously strived to improve his professional skills. In 2012, he graduated as a general practitioner from Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy; from 2016 to 2018, he completed the Specialist Doctor Level I program in Surgery at Hanoi Medical University and is currently pursuing a Specialist Doctor Level II program in Surgery at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy (2025-2027). With his strong professional competence and high sense of responsibility, in 2021 he was appointed Head of the Surgery Department.
In response to the "Excellent Worker, Creative Worker" emulation movement, Dr. Thuy has led and participated in many projects and initiatives with high practical value, effectively applied in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Notable examples include: treating distal radius fractures using a self-made frame and plaster cast; treating low ureteral stones using retrograde laser lithotripsy; surgically treating epidural hematomas; and treating inguinal hernias using the Lichtenstein method…

Furthermore, Dr. Thuy is always concerned with improving treatment capabilities in the local area. With investment in modern equipment, the Surgery Department has implemented many complex techniques such as traumatic brain injury surgery, bone fixation under fluoroscopy, spinal surgery, percutaneous lithotripsy, and endoscopic biliary tract surgery. In the future, Dr. Thuy and her colleagues will continue to pursue advanced training and implement new techniques such as knee arthroscopy and joint replacement to meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment from the people.
In 2023, Dr. Trinh Van Thuy was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh . This is a recognition of his continuous efforts in his professional work as well as his dedicated spirit in serving patients.
