Nguyen Thuy Linh close to top 20

Tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh jumped 3 places to 23rd place in the world . She achieved this achievement after reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open 2023, accumulating 3,850 more points. This is the highest ranking a Vietnamese female tennis player has ever achieved.

Topping the rankings is Japanese tennis player Akane Yamaguchi. In the top 10, there are also two Southeast Asian tennis players, Intanon and Chochuwong.

At the US Open, Thuy Linh defeated Esther Shi (USA) and Iris Wang (USA) to reach the quarterfinals. However, she lost to No. 1 seed Ratchanok Intanon with a score of 1-2. Before that, Thuy Linh also stopped in the quarterfinals of the Canada Open 2023 against Akane Yamaguchi.

After the US Open, Nguyen Thuy Linh will return home to train before going to Denmark to compete in the World Championships in August. After that, Thuy Linh will participate in the Asian Games in Hangzhou (China). Her goal is to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
