After the story was published, many organizations and individuals came forward to offer support. Nearly 20 million VND in cash, along with over 100 kg of rice and many other necessities, were handed directly to the family. Not stopping at immediate support, many philanthropists also expressed their desire to provide long-term assistance so that the children have more opportunities to continue their education.
Thirteen-year-old Thach Kieu Trang, granddaughter of Mrs. Yen, said emotionally, “I stopped going to school a long time ago to stay home and look after my younger siblings so my grandmother could go to work. Today, I'm so happy that you all came to visit and gave me gifts. I just hope my siblings can eat well and go to school. I also want to go back to school so that I can take care of my grandmother and my siblings in the future.” The simple words of the little girl moved many people to silence. Because it was a very normal dream of a child: to study, to grow up like her peers, and to be able to help her grandmother who sacrificed her old age to raise her grandchildren.
A new home, a new hope.
While Mrs. Yen's story is about preserving childhood for orphaned children, the circumstances of Mr. Le Hoang Tam, residing in Cai Keo hamlet, Quach Pham commune, move many people because of the resilience of his entire family in overcoming adversity.
Two years ago, Mr. Tam suffered a stroke, rendering him unable to work. From being the family 's breadwinner, he became dependent on his wife's care for daily life. To make ends meet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam pushes her husband's wheelchair every day to sell lottery tickets, and the meager profits become the family's main source of income.
Following the story featured in the " Bridge of Compassion " segment of the Ca Mau Newspaper and radio and television, many kind-hearted people have come forward to provide support in the form of money, rice, and other essential necessities. In particular, through the connections of the organization, the Ca Mau Lottery Company Limited has donated 60 million VND to help build the family's dream house.
On the day he received the keys to his new house, Mr. Tam choked up with emotion: "There were times I thought I would have to live in my mother-in-law's house for the rest of my life. I never imagined that today my wife and I would have our own house, with the added support of the community. This is a great happiness for our family."
Following the article "Struggling Amidst Adversity" published by Ca Mau Newspaper and broadcast on radio and television, the plight of Mr. Le Hoang Tam's family has received attention and support from the community. The couple was deeply moved on the day they received their new house, marking the beginning of a journey towards a stable life.
Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Quach Pham Commune, shared: “The most meaningful thing is not only the house that was donated, but also the affection and concern that organizations and benefactors have shown for Mr. Tam's family. This sharing gives them more confidence to overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives. This shows that when the press plays its connecting role well, the spread of information to the community is very significant, contributing to the local government's efforts in social welfare.”
The person who builds bridges of love.
The families of Mrs. Yen and Mr. Tam are just two of many cases that the Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio and Television have supported through social welfare programs, humanitarian segments, and journalistic works rich in humanistic values.
Through the "Safe and Secure Housing" program, Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio & Television, in coordination with Ca Mau Lottery Company Limited, mobilized social resources to build houses and help poor households stabilize their lives.
From 2024 to the present, the " Safe and Secure Housing " program, implemented by the unit in coordination with Ca Mau Lottery Company Limited, has supported the construction of houses for many poor households, with a budget of 60 million VND per house, and the total resources mobilized to date have exceeded 1.6 billion VND. Beyond providing homes, the program also connects people with additional social resources to support livelihoods, helping them to stabilize their lives.
Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Chairman of Ca Mau Lottery Company Limited, shared: “When accompanying Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio & Television in the “Safe Housing” program, I clearly felt the humanitarian significance of the program. Journalists not only bring information to the public, but also directly go to many rural areas, learn about, connect with, and spread stories of human kindness, so that the community can join hands to support those in difficult circumstances. We hope to continue to cooperate with the local authorities and media agencies in social welfare activities, helping people have stable housing, and giving them more confidence and motivation to strive for a better life.”
In addition, the "Safe Driving" program has also become a platform for connecting with and supporting victims of traffic accidents who are in difficult circumstances. From 2025 to the present, the program has assisted 18 cases, with a total budget of over 459 million VND, along with many practical gifts.
Journalist Tran Ngoc Luu Ly, Deputy Head of the Radio and Television Editorial Department of Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio and Television, shared: “There are people in desperate situations after traffic accidents who lose their ability to work, lose loved ones, or are no longer able to cover treatment costs. What we hope for is not only to mobilize material support, but also to help them feel that there is still a community ready to stand by and share with them.”

Beyond simply providing houses and gifts to those in need, the press has also contributed to bringing many students back to school, connecting activities to care for families receiving government assistance, impoverished households, children in remote areas, and many other charitable programs aimed at the community.
Behind every story told are real-life journeys, encounters, listening, and understanding. A news article is not just about reflecting a situation; it can also open a door of hope for a life. That is how journalists in Ca Mau are fulfilling their mission every day: doing a good job of informing and disseminating information, while also building bridges of well-being, spreading love, and working with the community to cultivate positive human values in life.
