Composer Thanh Sử has passed away.

At 71 years old, with over 55 years in the profession, composer Thanh Sử left behind nearly 1,000 lyrical songs about his homeland.

According to information from his family, musician Thanh Sử (real name Nguyễn Văn Sử) was born on February 27, 1957. He passed away at 9:55 PM on July 22, at the age of 71.

His passing has left immeasurable grief for his family and colleagues. He was a member of the Vietnam Musicians Association and the former director of the Ben Tre (formerly) Senior Citizens' Cultural Center.

Beyond composing, musician Thanh Sử was also a source of inspiration, spreading the values ​​of music and poetry to generations.

Composer Thanh Sử has dedicated over 55 years to music, and is the "father" of approximately 1,000 songs. He has published numerous song collections such as: Thanh Sử Composer Collection (2004), CD Thanh Sử - Returning Home (2005), CD Thanh Sử and Friends (2007), CD Thanh Sử and Normal (2016), CD Forever Calling My Beloved (Thanh Sử - Ngô Hằng, 2018), CD My Love in Chợ Lách (2018)...

Among them are many songs that have touched the hearts of lovers of folk music, such as: Ben Tre in Spring, Ba Tri, My Hometown, Cho Lach, My Beloved, Chau Thanh, My Hometown, Thanh Phu in Spring, Smoke from the Kitchen on the Thirtieth Day, Mother's Figure...

He was passionate about music, developing a love for singing and playing instruments from a young age. His songwriting ability was "inherited" from his father.

Composer Thanh Sử studied at the Hanoi University of Culture (Faculty of Mass Culture) and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music (Music Pedagogy).

He previously held various positions at the Culture and Information Department of Cho Lach District (formerly), was the former director of the Elderly Cultural Center of Ben Tre Province (formerly), and was the former head of the music branch of the Nguyen Dinh Chieu Literature and Arts Association. He retired in 2017.

According to the obituary, the coffin placement ceremony will be at 7:00 AM on July 23rd, the funeral procession at 9:00 AM on July 26th, and the burial at 11:00 AM on the same day in Hung Nhon hamlet, Cho Lach commune, Vinh Long province.
