According to artist Bach Nga, Vu Minh Hieu suffered from heart disease. On the afternoon of August 7th, he participated in a rehearsal of the traditional Vietnamese opera "Seven Fairies" in preparation for the performance on August 19th at Hong Lien Theater. Afterwards, he fainted upon leaving and was taken to the Ho Chi Minh City Tropical Diseases Hospital for emergency treatment by his colleagues in the troupe.

"Despite the doctors' best efforts to save him, Vu Minh Hieu did not survive. For many months, he had been very pale and thin. The passing of Vu Minh Hieu is a great loss for the Huynh Long traditional opera troupe," said artist Bach Nga.

Artist Binh Tinh once recounted that musician Vu Minh Hieu, originally from Soc Trang , was discovered by her during a performance in the province. She immediately invited Vu Minh Hieu to join her troupe to train him to become a musician specializing in composing and performing traditional Vietnamese opera music.

Recently, musician Vu Minh Hieu participated in a tour of France and several Western European countries with the Huynh Long traditional opera troupe. Vu Minh Hieu's father is the stage artist Vu Thanh An.

It can be said that after the death of musician Thanh Châu (the uncle of artist Bình Tinh during the COVID-19 pandemic), the Huỳnh Long traditional opera troupe suffered a significant loss due to a shortage of personnel in the traditional orchestra. "Vũ Minh Hiếu was a talented musician; he was very intelligent. All the director had to do was explain the staging ideas and musical effects to incorporate into each scene, and he could do it immediately. We had high hopes for his advancement and that he would become a key musician in the troupe, but he passed away too soon, leaving a huge void in our troupe," artist Bình Tinh said emotionally.

Composer Duy Khanh - son of the late Meritorious Artist Vuy Choi - reminisced: "Currently, the traditional orchestra is severely lacking in young talents. Vu Minh Hieu was a promising new talent that we placed a lot of faith in because he had the potential to go even further, but then he passed away."

Vu Minh Hieu is considered a talented musician.

On their personal pages, many artists expressed their sorrow upon hearing the news of musician Vu Minh Hieu's passing. Meritorious Artist Ngoc Huyen wrote: "A kind, talented young musician whose life was cut short, so heartbreaking." Artist Hua Minh Dat wrote: "Vu Minh Hieu was small, cute, quick-witted, hardworking, and very skilled in his profession… we were just preparing for long journeys together… jokes left unfinished… promises left unfulfilled… and yet now… he couldn't overcome his fate… truly… life is so unpredictable… I miss you so much, Hieu…".

Artist Tran Huynh Ngoc wrote: "Rest in peace!!! In life, sometimes we can't avoid upsetting each other, and we had just been happy together for a few days, missing out on one more pleasant conversation…but then you left, rest in peace!"

The funeral of musician Vu Minh Hieu will be held at Nhon Hoa Temple on August 8th and 9th, after which, according to the family's wishes, the body will be transported to Soc Trang province.
