On the evening of June 26th, at Bui Van Thu Secondary School, the People's Committee of Ba Diem commune organized a Cultural and Arts Festival with the theme "Continuing the Tradition - Proud of the City Named After Uncle Ho," aiming to commemorate many important historical milestones of the country and Ho Chi Minh City.
The program was organized to celebrate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026), the 115th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's departure to seek a path to national salvation (June 5, 1911 – June 5, 2026), and especially the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City being honored to bear the name of President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 – July 2, 2026).

The performance "Melodies of Pride - A Prosperous and Shining Vietnam" was presented by the Nguyen Van Bua Secondary School's Performing Arts Team at the program.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Tran Thuy Huong, Standing Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Diem Commune, stated: "This is an opportunity for every citizen of the city to reflect on the glorious journey so far, and to continue to uphold the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of dynamism, creativity, and compassion to build a city that is increasingly civilized, modern, and developed."

Ms. Tran Thuy Huong shared that the festival is an opportunity to educate about traditions and spread pride in the city named after President Ho Chi Minh.
The festival includes many meaningful activities such as the thematic exhibition "Ho Chi Minh - The Aspiration for Independence and the Strength of Vietnam," Book and Reading Culture Day, exchanges with historical witnesses, cultural and artistic programs, and film screenings for the public.

Notably, the exhibition features 60 representative images and documents about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, thereby contributing to the education of patriotic traditions, arousing national pride and a sense of responsibility in the younger generation.
Ms. Huong emphasized: "Ba Diem commune is proud to be a land of 18 villages with a rich revolutionary tradition; a place that once sheltered and hid many revolutionary cadres; and the birthplace of the historic decisions of the 6th Central Committee Conference of the Communist Party of Vietnam."

The highlight of the program is the interaction with historical witnesses who directly participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
Sharing his experience at the program, Captain Duong Van Duc, who directly participated in the Tet Offensive and Uprising of 1968, emotionally recalled: "At that time, we went into battle with a spirit of self-sacrifice; no one thought about their own life or death, but only about the independence and freedom of the nation."

Mr. Duong Van Duc said that many of his comrades had fallen at a very young age. "We sacrificed and endured hardships not to become heroes, but simply because of our love for our country," Mr. Duc said.

The stories from historical witnesses captivated the attention and interest of a large number of students.
Addressing today's young generation, Mr. Duc advised: "In our time, we took up arms to defend the country, but in your time, we take up pens and use knowledge to advance the nation. Study hard, cultivate strong moral character, and live responsibly towards your family and society."

Mr. Le Van Teo emotionally recounted the moment he witnessed the national flag flying at Tan Son Nhat Airport after the reunification of the country.
Meanwhile, Mr. Le Van Teo, who fought on the Southern battlefield and participated in the takeover of Tan Son Nhat Airport after April 30, 1975, said that his generation is always proud to have dedicated their youth to the Fatherland. "Although our youth was left behind in the smoke and fire of war, in return, we lived the most meaningful youth, dedicating ourselves completely to the Fatherland," Mr. Teo shared.
Recalling the moment of taking over Tan Son Nhat Airport, Mr. Teo expressed: "Seeing the national flag flying at the airport, I understood that the power of patriotism and the aspiration for independence of the entire Vietnamese nation had triumphed."
The program not only revisits revolutionary traditions through the stories of historical witnesses, but also honors entrepreneurs and organizations that are contributing to the development of their homeland with a sense of responsibility and a desire to serve.
Representatives from local businesses shared their experiences in supporting social welfare initiatives and donated practical resources to the locality, contributing to spreading the spirit of "remembering the source when drinking water" and working together to build a more developed Ba Diem commune.
On this occasion, partner organizations also provided significant social welfare resources to the locality. H-Gas Hong Moc Company donated 50 million VND to the Gratitude Fund and 50 million VND to the Fund for the Poor. The Vietnam Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) provided social welfare support to Ba Diem commune with 300 million VND. The Tri Duc Social Charity Fund of Phat Tien Trading and Service Company Limited also donated nearly 500 million VND to start the construction of an auxiliary facility at Phan Cong Hon Secondary School.
