Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee said that in nearly 20 years (2004-2023), Phu Quoc has transformed from a pristine island into an attractive island tourism destination for domestic and foreign tourists. Revenue from tourism in 2023 will reach 6.848 billion VND. Total social capital construction investment in 2023 is about 21.615 billion VND (in 2004 it was only about 310 billion VND).

Phu Quoc is currently developing strongly, but there are still some limitations such as: goods trade depends on sea and air routes, so it takes a lot of time, transport costs and is easily isolated in bad weather. .
Health and education infrastructure only serves the people on the island; Investment capital for technical infrastructure has not met demand.
In particular, state management in the field of land management in Phu Quoc still has shortcomings; A part of officials allowed violations in land management and local construction order.
“Phu Quoc needs more specific mechanisms to develop synchronously in the fields of tourism, health, education, environment and urban areas.
