The Japanese government has decided to increase visa fees for foreigners fivefold starting in July, marking the first adjustment since 1978 amid rising inflation and a prolonged depreciation of the yen.

According to a decision announced on June 19, the fee for a single-entry visa will increase from 3,000 to 15,000 yen (approximately $90), and the fee for a multiple-entry visa will increase from 6,000 to 30,000 yen.
