We will always remember the writers who sacrificed their lives.

In the glorious 100-year journey of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025), there are names that have forever remained on the battlefield. They are martyred journalists, those who "held the pen as if holding a gun," taking revolutionary ideals as their guiding light. They are gone, but that flame of dedication still smolders in every page of the newspaper, in the hearts of those working in the profession today.

Every year, the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province regularly visits and presents gifts to the families of fallen journalists.

In Long An , during the two wars of resistance against colonialism and imperialism, and the war to defend the southwestern border, many journalists fought alongside the armed forces, directly recording and reflecting the indomitable fighting spirit of our army and people. Not a few of them fell while carrying out their propaganda duties. These martyrs wrote history with their pens and their blood.

Remembering that sacrifice, over the years, press agencies in the province have paid attention to carrying out the work of showing gratitude, including visiting and encouraging the families of fallen soldiers .

The commemorative activities were thoughtfully and solemnly organized, demonstrating the affection and responsibility of today's generation of journalists towards their predecessors.

According to Chau Hong Kha, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Long An province and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station: “Long An has 19 martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives during the resistance wars and the war to protect the Fatherland. To express our gratitude to these journalists who dedicated themselves to the revolutionary cause, every year, during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), we organize delegations to offer incense in remembrance, visit, and give gifts to the families of these martyrs. This activity demonstrates the principle of 'drinking water, remembering the source'; at the same time, it instills confidence and motivation in today's journalists on the path of continuing the revolutionary journalistic tradition.”

A century has passed, but the legacy of these revolutionary journalists remains evident in the history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism. This gratitude is expressed not only through gifts and visits, but also through the commitment of today's generation of journalists to uphold professional ethics, cultivate political integrity, and continue serving the country with honest and humane writing.

Reporter Thanh My (Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station) shared: “Journalism is a unique profession, requiring skills, perseverance, courage, and a sense of responsibility to society.

Over the years in this profession, I have come to appreciate even more the values left behind by previous generations of journalists, especially the veterans. For me, showing gratitude is not just a ritual on an anniversary, but something I carry in my thoughts and throughout my career. It is also the motivation for me to uphold professional ethics and continue to practice my profession with integrity.”

Drawing from the stories of previous generations, today's journalists are increasingly aware of their responsibility not only to report and reflect events but also to uphold professional ethics, cultivate political integrity, and continuously improve their professional skills to live up to the revolutionary journalistic tradition.

Reporter Anh Thu (Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station) expressed: "Looking at the portraits, mementos, and listening to the stories from the relatives of the fallen soldiers, I believe that journalism is not only about propaganda, bringing news to all citizens, but also about contributing our voices to the flow of history and the times. I and the generations of journalists today will follow in the footsteps of the previous generation, keeping the flame of passion alive and upholding journalistic ethics, because every word written is a responsibility to the truth, to the people, and to the profession we pursue.”

Remembering the legacy of the past, those working in the profession today are committed to living and writing in a way that is worthy of what previous generations have left behind. Respecting the past and preserving historical values is the foundation for journalism to continue innovating and accompanying the country on its journey of building and protecting the nation in the era of digital transformation and globalization.
