The New Year's gift was truly captivating; the book enchanted the little boy from the very first pages. It transported him to a world of tiny creatures with vivid and witty stories. That little boy was me, and the book was "The Adventures of Mít Đặc and His Friends " by Nikolay Nosov.

I was captivated from the very first pages. The little people weren't like the fairies or benevolent spirits in fairy tales; they were just like us. They worked hard, wrote poetry, sang, built strange machines, and discovered new lands.
What's even more striking is that upon reading the characters' names, one immediately associates them with their appearance, occupation, and personality. Know-it-all is a wise man. Pill is a doctor. But the most famous and also the main character of the story is Mít Đặc (a character known for his insatiable thirst for knowledge). He shows himself to be a curious person, wanting to learn everything: poetry, music , art…
However, due to his laziness and lack of critical thinking, Mít Đặc never succeeded in anything. Boasting and bragging were also negative traits of this character. When the hot air balloon burst and he had to be hospitalized, Mít Đặc always presented himself as intelligent and talented to the little girls in Green City. Only when Biết Tuốt appeared did everyone learn Mít Đặc's true nature.
At the end of the story, Mít Đặc is deeply ashamed of his actions. His tears of remorse serve as the most sincere apology to his friends. The forgiveness of the little aunts and uncles helps Mít Đặc awaken and understand what he must do to become a good person.

It's also important not to become complacent with one's knowledge. Learning from books isn't enough; one must also accumulate knowledge from real-life experiences. Mít Đặc's failures in learning to draw, music, etc., are also things worth reflecting on.
People cannot succeed without passion and hard work. Being aware of this helped me a great deal in developing my self-learning habits later on. The situations where the little people work and play together demonstrate mutual love and support, as well as equality among people in society.
The beautiful and impressive scene depicting caring for and helping a friend is when Blue Eyes comforts Dark-skinned Mít and offers sincere advice to help him become a better person.
From a deeper perspective, I understand that those who have made mistakes should be helped to reform, not abandoned. Indeed, stories from a fictional world hold profound value for present-day life.
It's no exaggeration to say that the lessons from these tiny characters helped me understand what it means to live, to love, and to share.
The reading culture, sown with that Tet gift from years ago, will forever be a valuable asset on my life's journey, spreading and inspiring every member of my family. Our family bookshelf was also formed from the beginning of this reading culture, stemming from that childhood gift.
