The bond between soldiers and civilians in the villages and hamlets.

The specific projects and tasks undertaken by the provincial armed forces have contributed to strengthening trust and enhancing the bond between the military and the people in the Khmer ethnic minority areas. Through this, the people's support for the cause has become increasingly solid.

Over the years, the Provincial Military Command has closely coordinated with Party committees, government agencies, departments, and mass organizations to implement many activities aimed at the Khmer ethnic minority. These programs not only care for the material and spiritual lives of the people but also promote awareness and contribute to strengthening national unity. According to Colonel Cao Minh Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, a highlight is the "Military-Civilian Tet" program, linked to the traditional Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year of the Khmer people, which has been maintained for many years. In 2026, the program was held in Hon Dat commune, attracting a large number of armed forces personnel, political and social organizations, humanitarian organizations, and the people to participate.

Through this program, many meaningful projects and activities have been implemented simultaneously. Notably, support has been provided for the construction of 50 solidarity houses, houses for comrades, and farmer's homes, exceeding the set target, with a support level of 60 million VND per house. In addition, 8 rural traffic bridges have been implemented, with 1 already started and 7 under construction. These projects, though not large in scale, are of practical significance, contributing to stabilizing people's lives, facilitating transportation, and developing production.

Joy was evident on the face of Ms. Thi Loan, a resident of Hon Queo hamlet, Hon Dat commune, one of the households receiving support for house construction. Ms. Loan shared: “I am very happy to receive support for building a solidarity house, especially during the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet holiday.” These simple words are vivid evidence of the effectiveness of grassroots-oriented programs.

In the communes of Thanh Loc and Binh An, where a large Khmer population lives, the work of building a strong foundation of public support has been implemented systematically and effectively. The commune's military command proactively advises the Party committee and People's Committee on military and national defense tasks in conjunction with mass mobilization work; at the same time, it focuses on recruitment, creating conditions for Khmer youth to participate in military service. Danh Thuy, a young man residing in Hoa Loi hamlet, Thanh Loc commune, shared: “Clearly aware of the responsibility of youth, I volunteered for military service and fulfilled my obligations under the Military Service Law.” Examples like Danh Thuy contribute to spreading a sense of responsibility among young people in the Khmer community.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Hoang Buu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Command of Binh An commune, said that the Khmer people account for more than 25% of the commune's population. In 2026, more than 33% of the commune's young people enlisting in the military were Khmer. At the same time, 7 Khmer students registered for military schools, accounting for nearly 44%. These figures show a clear shift in the awareness and responsibility of ethnic minorities towards the task of protecting the Fatherland. Danh Kiet, a young man residing in Hoa Thuan hamlet, Binh An commune, shared: "As a child of the Khmer people, I voluntarily enlisted to contribute to protecting the Fatherland." This spirit is spreading, becoming a motivation for many young people to follow.

A noteworthy advantage in Binh An commune is the relatively high percentage of Khmer people in its militia and hamlet leaders. Thanks to their understanding of customs, traditions, and language, this force serves as an effective bridge between the government and the people, helping to convey policies and guidelines in a way that is accessible, understandable, and readily accepted. According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Hoang Buu, during the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet (Khmer New Year) in 2026, the commune's Military Command coordinated many practical activities such as visiting and congratulating Khmer Theravada Buddhist temples and families of policy beneficiaries; and holding exchanges and meetings with Khmer officers and soldiers. Through these activities, they not only cared for the spiritual well-being of the people but also contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people.

The synchronized implementation of these solutions has yielded clear results. The material and spiritual lives of the Khmer people have gradually improved; political security, order, and social safety have been maintained. More importantly, the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the armed forces has been increasingly strengthened. Based on these achievements, the people's support in the Khmer community continues to be enhanced, creating a solid foundation for building a strong national defense system integrated with a robust people's security system in the new era.
