After 50 years, Long Khanh has undergone significant changes, with a diversified economy , and notably, it has become one of the two major cities in Dong Nai province. The locality is constantly striving to build a green, civilized, and modern urban area.
Diversified economic development
One of the city's strengths is its two operational industrial parks, Long Khanh and Suoi Tre, which have attracted 63 investors with a total leased area of over 270 hectares, creating jobs for approximately 23,000 local and neighboring workers. The city has also added the Hang Gon Industrial Park (approximately 300 hectares) and the Hang Gon Industrial Cluster (approximately 70 hectares) to its planning.
Besides its concentrated industrial sector, Long Khanh has great potential in agricultural development, particularly in local specialty crops. This allows for the mobilization of investment resources for processing agricultural products and exporting key items such as durian, rambutan, pomelo, and jackfruit. To date, the city has 29 products certified under the OCOP (One Commune One Product) program at the provincial level by the Provincial People's Committee, including 2 products with 4-star OCOP certification and 27 products with 3-star OCOP certification.
Nguyen The Hung, Director of Hung Phat Dried Jackfruit Production and Trading Company Limited (in Binh Loc commune), assessed that Long Khanh, as well as Dong Nai province, has an abundance of fruits, making it a plentiful source of raw materials for the processing industry. The company is striving to diversify its processed fruit, vegetable, and root products, in addition to its main product line of dried jackfruit. Besides the domestic market and exports to China, the company is working with several partners specializing in exporting to markets such as Europe, Japan, and South Korea.
Alongside the development of industrial and agricultural production, trade and services have also made significant progress. The city is designated as a center for trade, services, goods transportation, agricultural product warehousing, and eco-tourism. Therefore, in the future, there will be much potential for the development of green industries, trade, and green services to meet the needs of the people as well as factories and businesses.
According to Do Chanh Quang, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Long Khanh City People's Committee, in recent years, the city has achieved encouraging progress in socio-economic development and improving people's lives. The economic structure has shifted positively towards industrialization and modernization, improving efficiency in each sector, and the economic growth rate has consistently remained high.
Expectations for new advantages
Long Khánh City has been designated as the core urban area and the center of the eastern region of Đồng Nai Province. Both the province and the city have focused on investing and attracting resources to create new development advantages for Long Khánh.
Long Khánh's future advantages include its position as a regional transportation gateway, connecting with the Southeast and Central Highlands regions via the North-South railway, National Highway 1, National Highway 56, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, and in the future, the Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressway and Road 770B connecting to Long Thanh Airport… These factors create Long Khánh's position as a transportation hub and regional link, driving investment attraction and development in the future.
Nguyen Duy Khuong, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Young Entrepreneurs Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of 939 Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company, believes that Long Khanh has great potential and momentum for future development. The city is improving day by day, becoming an ecological and livable urban area, and it is also a place of great interest to the business community. When investing in production and business projects here, businesses hope to be supported, collaborated, and develop together. At the same time, businesses will exploit the potential and advantages to invest in and serve the socio-economic goals of the province and city.
Chairman of the Long Khánh City People's Committee, Đỗ Chánh Quang, added that to create momentum for development, the city has invested in the construction, upgrading, and renovation of many urban transportation routes, creating a modern urban landscape. In particular, the undergrounding of the technical infrastructure system on Hùng Vương road has been completed, and undergrounding is currently underway for Hoàng Diệu and Nguyễn Văn Cừ roads. In addition, the city is also implementing social housing projects to help address the housing needs of low-income individuals in the city, especially workers, helping them to settle down and build a stable life.
