In early 2026, the people of Vinh Hanh commune's rural area were delighted when the Vinh Thuan 1 bridge was inaugurated and put into use. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Vinh Thuan hamlet Party branch, said that over time, the bridge had deteriorated and suffered serious damage, affecting the people's travel. The commune leaders mobilized social resources to build a new bridge, and not only the people in the hamlet but also residents from other hamlets and communes wholeheartedly supported the project.

The Vinh Thuan 1 bridge was completed and put into use, much to the delight of the local people. Crossing the Mac Can Dung canal is now much more convenient and safer than before. The bridge is a suspension structure with a zinc frame, 61 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, and with a load capacity of 2.5 tons. The total construction cost was over 1 billion VND, funded through social mobilization. Expressing his joy at receiving support for the construction of the new bridge, Mr. Tran Quang Trung, a resident of Vinh Thuan 1 hamlet, shared: “Now, trading, transporting goods, and traveling between the two sides of the canal are much easier. We will all work together to maintain and preserve the bridge well.”
Mr. Doan Duc Dinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Hanh commune, said that this bridge is the largest investment since the implementation of the two-tiered local government model, built with contributions from people inside and outside the commune. The bridge is sturdily constructed, connecting the two banks of inter-commune roads, making travel for residents more convenient and safer. During the rainy season, students going to school and people going to work no longer have to worry about crossing the dilapidated and dangerous bridge.
For a long time, the transportation of goods for people living along the Ngọn Cái canal in Hòa Thạnh hamlet, An Châu commune, has been difficult due to the narrow, dilapidated, and dangerous bridge spanning the canal. The An Châu commune government actively mobilized the people and philanthropists to build the Cô Vân 1 bridge across the Ngọn Cái canal to facilitate easier travel for residents.
Working alongside the local community is the Hoa Hao Buddhist bridge construction team of Long Xuyen ward, led by Mr. Pham Van Sau (also known as Uncle Sau Lanh). After nearly four months of construction, Uncle Sau Lanh and his team members, along with local residents, overcame many difficulties to build a sturdy concrete bridge. The Co Van 1 bridge is constructed of reinforced concrete, measuring 32 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, and with a load capacity of 5 tons. The total construction cost was over 1.2 billion VND, funded through social contributions from the people. Mr. Sau Lanh shared: “Being able to contribute to the local government's efforts to complete the bridge, making it easier for people to travel, makes me very happy and fulfilled.”
Many young people and elderly residents actively contributed to the bridge construction alongside the local authorities; women took turns cooking and serving drinks to those involved in the project. Ms. Thi Thuy, residing in Hoa Thanh hamlet, shared: “After finishing my housework, I quickly joined other women in the neighborhood to cook meals for the men and women building the bridge. Women also want to contribute their efforts to help complete the bridge in the best way possible.” Mr. Nguyen Van Lam, also residing in Hoa Thanh hamlet, happily shared: “The local Party committee and government are paying attention to building a sturdy concrete bridge for people to travel and for children to go to school, and we are very happy.”
These bridges connecting the joyful shores demonstrate the spirit of unity between the government and the people, working together to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.
