Exemplary veterans in the emulation movement

With nearly 20 years as Party Branch Secretary and Head of Xom Giao village (Dam Ha commune, Dam Ha district), veteran Nguyen Van Tram (61 years old) has always been at the forefront of all work, playing a key role in uniting and acting as a "bridge" in disseminating information and mobilizing villagers to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, and local campaigns and emulation movements.

From 2020 to the present, he has coordinated with various organizations to mobilize villagers to donate over 5,500 square ^meters of land, with many households donating hundreds of square meters ^each . He also voluntarily dismantled structures without demanding any compensation or financial assistance. Furthermore, he encouraged residents to build numerous rural roads to support agricultural production. To date, 100% of Xóm Giáo village has concrete roads, ensuring convenient transportation, goods circulation, and economic development.

Veteran Nguyen Van Tram also pioneered economic development and supported and guided villagers in overcoming poverty and becoming wealthy. Through his dedication and responsibility, he contributed to transforming Xom Giao from a disadvantaged village in the district into a model new rural village in 2022.

Veteran Nguyen Van Xoay (71 years old, Ba Xa village, An Sinh commune, Dong Trieu city) suffers from the effects of Agent Orange/dioxin, which has affected all three of his daughters. Overcoming the pain of Agent Orange, he remains actively involved in social activities and contributes to the local community. He served as Party Secretary and Head of Ba Xa village for 18 years. Under his leadership, the village consistently led in emulation movements, receiving recognition and high praise from the local Party committee and government. Although he no longer holds the positions of Party Secretary and Head of the village, he serves as the Head of the Veterans Association in Ba Xa village.

The Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the province presented gifts to veteran Nguyen Van Xoay on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification, April 2025.

Veteran Nguyen Van Xoay shared: The village's Veterans Association currently has 65 members. The association's emulation movement is always promoted, and there are no longer any poor or near-poor households. The movement to develop the economy, especially new models, is very well received by the village's veterans. Besides the traditional custard apple tree, many veterans also grow grapes, longan, and red-fleshed dragon fruit, earning hundreds of millions of dong per year. The association is exemplary in participating in the management of self-managed road sections and security and order self-management teams, successfully completing its tasks and receiving high praise from the people, the Party committee, and the higher-level Veterans Association.

Veterans Nguyen Van Tram and Nguyen Van Xoay are just two of hundreds of veterans in the province who participate in local Party committees and government. According to data from the Provincial Veterans Association, the province currently has 55,300 veteran members, including 14,200 Party members; 1,551 of them participate in Party committees and government (515 veterans are branch secretaries, 405 veterans are deputy branch secretaries...).

The Provincial Veterans Association continues to be a pioneer in many areas with emulation movements, such as: "Veterans helping each other reduce poverty and excel in economic activities," "Veterans joining hands to contribute to building new rural areas and civilized urban areas," and "Exemplary veterans"; actively participating in building and protecting the Party, the government, protecting the people, developing socio-economic conditions, and maintaining security and order at the grassroots level.
