Exemplary war veterans in the emulation movement

With nearly 20 years as Party Cell Secretary and Head of Xom Giao Village (Dam Ha Commune, Dam Ha District), veteran Nguyen Van Tram (61 years old) has always been at the forefront of all work, promoting his role as a nucleus of solidarity, a "bridge" in propagating and mobilizing people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local campaigns and emulation movements.

From 2020 to present, he has coordinated with organizations to mobilize people in the village to donate over ^5,500m2 of land, of which many households donated hundreds of ^m2 of land, voluntarily demolishing structures without requiring any compensation or financial support. He also mobilized people to build many intra-field roads to ensure agricultural production. Up to now, 100% of Xom Giao village has concrete roads to ensure convenient travel and circulation of goods, and economic development.

Veteran Nguyen Van Tram also pioneered economic development and supported and guided villagers to escape poverty and become rich. With his dedication and responsibility, he contributed to turning Xom Giao from a poor village in the district into a model new rural village in 2022.

Veteran Nguyen Van Xoay (71 years old, Ba Xa village, An Sinh commune, Dong Trieu city) has the consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin; affecting all 3 of his daughters. Overcoming the pain of Agent Orange, he still enthusiastically participates in social activities, contributing to the locality. He has been the Party Cell Secretary and Head of Ba Xa village for 18 years. Under his leadership, the village has always been at the forefront of emulation movements, and has been highly appreciated by the local Party Committee and government. Currently, he no longer holds the position of Party Cell Secretary and Head of the Village, but is the Head of the Veterans Association of Ba Xa village.

The Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin presented gifts to veteran Nguyen Van Xoay on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, April 2025.

CCB Nguyen Van Xoay shared: The village CCB Association currently has 65 members. The emulation movement of the Association has always been promoted, currently there are no poor or near-poor households. The economic development movement, especially new models, is very well received by the village CCB. Besides traditional custard apple trees, many CCB also grow grapevines, longan trees, and red-fleshed dragon fruit, earning hundreds of millions of VND/year. The Association is exemplary in participating in the management of self-managed roads; the self-managed security and order team, completing its tasks well, and is highly appreciated by the people, the Party Committee, and the CCB Association at higher levels.

Veterans Nguyen Van Tram and Nguyen Van Xoay are just two of hundreds of veterans in the province participating in local Party committees and authorities. According to the provincial Veterans Association, the province currently has 55,300 veterans, including 14,200 party members; 1,551 veterans participate in Party committees and authorities (515 veterans are Party cell secretaries, 405 veterans are deputy party cell secretaries...).

The provincial war veterans continue to be pioneers on many fronts with emulation movements, typically: "War veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business", "War veterans join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", "Exemplary war veterans"; actively participate in building and protecting the Party, the government, protecting the people, developing the economy - society, maintaining security and order at the grassroots level.
