(QBĐT) - Colonel Ngo Minh Dien, Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command of Quang Binh province, shared: The year 2024 marked many significant achievements of the Border Guard force on the two border lines, both firmly protecting border sovereignty and security, and making practical and effective contributions to socio-economic development.
According to Colonel Ngo Minh Dien, the important achievements include: maintaining strict implementation of border management agreements and regulations, strengthening patrols and controls to protect the integrity of the border system and national boundary markers. The Border Guard Force is resourceful and courageous, achieving many outstanding victories in the fight against crime; promoting and strengthening border diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to building and consolidating the solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and development of the border region.
The work of disseminating and educating the public about the law has been applied flexibly and creatively with diverse forms and rich content suitable to each locality; effectively implementing programs and models to help people develop socio -economic conditions; and building increasingly strong border areas. The programs "Helping Children Go to School," "Adopted Children of Border Guard Posts," and the project "Army Officers and Soldiers Helping Children Go to School" have achieved many outstanding results. The provincial Border Guard force always takes the lead in carrying out tasks to help people prevent and combat natural disasters, conduct search and rescue operations; and combat IUU fishing in a thorough, substantive, and effective manner.
The Provincial Border Guard Command promptly completed the documentary film "65 Years of Border Protection," published the book "Chronology of Events of the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard in the period 2014-2024," and the anthology "Traveling Along the Border"...
For the first time, the Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Khammouane Provincial Military Command (Laos) and the district and commune authorities on both sides of the border to organize bilateral patrols. In 2024, 28 bilateral patrols were conducted with 355 officers and soldiers and 38 leaders and people from both sides of the border participating.
The Provincial Border Guard Command proactively and actively coordinated with departments, agencies, and localities to advise the Provincial People's Committee on directing and successfully organizing the signing of fraternal ties between border communities: Thuong Trach commune (Bo Trach district) and Noong Ma village cluster, Bua La Pha district, Khammouane province (Laos); and between Lang Ho and Lang Mo Border Guard Posts and Company 317, Khammouane Provincial Military Command. Through these fraternal activities, resources were mobilized to build public infrastructure, support livelihoods, organize medical examinations and treatment, provide free medicine, and give gifts to poor households and students in difficult circumstances, totaling 4.3 billion VND. This left many positive impressions and deep affection between officers, soldiers, and people on both sides of the border.
| With the achievements made, the Border Guard Command awarded the emulation flag for the "Determined to Win" emulation movement in the period 2019-2024 to the Provincial Border Guard Command; many collectives and individuals received commendations from the Ministry of National Defense, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and other levels. |
In the "Effective Mass Mobilization" emulation movement, the Border Guard Force implemented models suitable for each unit and locality. The "Saturday to the Village" program mobilized resources to build and hand over 6 "Borderland Lighting" projects; 5 "Borderland Welcome Gates" projects; 13 "Community Toilets" projects; 2 "House Foundation Hardening" projects; 5 clean water projects; 5 "Borderland Machinery Sound" models; 83 "Great Solidarity" houses, "Shelter of Love" houses, "Houses in Religious Areas," and "Happy Houses"; and donated over 10,365 gifts to disadvantaged people and students in border areas.
In addition, the units actively guided the people in livestock and crop farming techniques; propagated the elimination of outdated customs; cleaned the environment, repaired houses for poor households; provided free haircuts, health check-ups and consultations, and distributed free medicine… The total value of these activities was nearly 21 billion VND, contributing to helping people develop the economy and build new rural areas.
The Border Guard Force's "Light for Border Regions" model is increasingly spreading and demonstrating its effectiveness with 112 completed projects (including 3 projects donated to the people of Laos), with a total construction cost of nearly 5.8 billion VND. The Border Guard Force Command selected it as a model to be replicated throughout the entire force. The Central Propaganda Department honored it as an exemplary model in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
